Whats gan on 20 Jun 2025 21:44 #1

Will we ever know the truth behind the invisible investor? Have we lost Amdrew Lapping? All these q's and many more can be asked and answered repeatedly on the new look forum, well done. Cufc4eva

Jon Colman asks 10 questions in today's N&S.; To be fair, it's questions that many of us have been asking for weeks. Supposedly the questions have been sent to the club too - wonder if they'll get a reponse?

1. When will supporters be given details of the mystery investor and his/her approach?

2. To what extent have discussions continued since Andrew Jenkins’ last statement on June 2?

3. Is there a deadline for the mystery investor to table a firm proposal – and an official timescale on the current confidentiality agreement?

4. Can you confirm or deny vice-president Andy Bell’s claim that the new party is a billionaire?

5. Why have the United Trust, who own 25.4 per cent of the club’s holding company, not yet been given any details of the new investor?

6. Have you encouraged the new investor to seek dialogue with the Trust?

7. Does the club believe the Trust’s vote in March to dilute their shareholding – which they insist only related to the Andrew Lapping plan – should apply in any alternative restructure, and has the club sought legal advice on this position?

8. If discussions break down, will the club seek to re-engage with Andrew Lapping and his consortium? If not, what is Plan C?

9. Was Lapping’s claim on May 19 correct that the club’s lawyers had not “fully engaged” in the process of legal and financial due diligence – and if so, why?

10. Does the club intend at this stage to proceed with new stadium scheme Project Blue Yonder until and beyond the current lock-out agreement, which we understand to end in October – and when will details be made public?

The questions are all perfectly valid and need answered, however CUFC have always treated the local press with a similar disdain to that which they show its supporters, therefore I will not hold my breath for a response.

There is no billionaire investor. Never was. The question you should be asking is why the current BOD would rather see the club run into the ground than accept the only real bid on the table.

I really was looking forward to the new season, but now I will not go back while certain people are still involved with the club.

Im not so sure badger. If Nixon & Jenkins are foolish enough to go as far with a story as fabricated as this, then surely their days at the club are numbered regardless of outcome.
I just dont believe anyone in their positions could be THAT stupid. Even them.

I genuinely think there is another investor - I'm just not convinced they're a billionaire though. If they're not, you've got to question why AJ/JN haven't confirmed this.

I agree - someone is interested but the whole thing absolutely mismanaged by JN as usual and instead of getting supporters on his side he does the exact opposite, A rank amateur in a time warp.

Surely at this point they could produce proof of said investor to other members of the board, who could then verify that there is a genuine bidder without the need to make public the name until the confidentially agreement was removed.
Although it's worrying that this person wants to hide doesn't bode well for future communication with the club.

Reading the old board I think Moorlad has got it spot on. The Lapping deal is the only real bid, if there is anyone else seriously interested someone, somewhere would have leaked the name by now, given the interest. Oh no, let me guess. It's a curry tycoon from a far off land, who made his vast millions by investing his tips in a spice mine, who was so horribly disfigured by poppadum shrapnel from an exploding vindaloo that he cannot be seen in public?

Somebody wasn't particularly happy with Jon Colman's article. One of the comments on the N&S; site.
I'm one fan not desperate to know what's going on because I respect
Confidentiality and it's only June. I find the 10 questions to be pathetic and ones a ten year old would write. This article and a further one printed in today's paper smacks of trouble making or were they written on behalf of Andrew Lapping ?
Our club is in the safe hands of Andrew Jenkins , a generous fan of our club and in him I trust .
Please stop writing drivel and be positive about the good things happening - new players and a top Marketing appointment .
Try understanding how business works with both parties wanting to keep any possible deal confidential , unlike Lapping who talks a lot but really says nothing and acts like a fool by not insisting on a exclusivity agreement.
In answer to your 10 stupid questions I would say , go away and play with your other toys and leave any business deals to the people in the know and stop seeing mischievous .
If you are bored try writing about Cricket etc but please stop trying to ruin our club . I do hope that the majority of fans can see that you in Lappings pocket and that you will not be happy until you , like him , get your silly way . I personally prefer the way our Directors are dealing with any approach but I suppose it stops you scaremongering

"dave robson" is nearly an anagram of "board evasion"

and I wouldn't rule out illiteracy being the reason for the near-miss

Who is there to tell ? If the investor is dealing with CUFC Holdings then there is only 2 current board members, AJ and JN.

A simply Google reveals that.

1. When will supporters be given details of the mystery investor and his/her approach? As soon as possible (Honest answer: There is no investor and even if there was we wouldn't tell those idiots anything unless and until we absolutely had to)

2. To what extent have discussions continued since Andrew Jenkins’ last statement on June 2? We continue to make good progress with the investor and hope to actually meet him soon (Honest answer : see Honest answer to Q1)

3. Is there a deadline for the mystery investor to table a firm proposal – and an official timescale on the current confidentiality agreement? The important thing is to get the best investment proposal for the club and that will take as long as is necessary (Honest answer: How many times, there is no investor. If we can make them up we can surely make up a few deadlines?)

4. Can you confirm or deny vice-president Andy Bell’s claim that the new party is a billionaire? Yes, we can confirm or deny. (Honest answer : Andy who? Oh, the one we asked to stick out a tweet to add some credence to our made up investor story. Well yes, the made up investor is a billionaire, but is still made up)

5. Why have the United Trust, who own 25.4 per cent of the club’s holding company, not yet been given any details of the new investor? We continue to progress the talks and the Trust will, of course, be invited in at the appropriate time. (Honest answer: We hate our supporters. The Trust claims to represent the fans. Therefore we hate the Trust)

6. Have you encouraged the new investor to seek dialogue with the Trust? See both answers to Q5

7. Does the club believe the Trust’s vote in March to dilute their shareholding – which they insist only related to the Andrew Lapping plan – should apply in any alternative restructure, and has the club sought legal advice on this position? We believe that the Trust will support the best investment proposal for the club and will support the ownership structure that best facilitates that. (Honest answer: We screwed up with this and have no idea whatsoever, we were actually hoping nobody would pick up on this)

8. If discussions break down, will the club seek to re-engage with Andrew Lapping and his consortium? If not, what is Plan C? The club is seeking the best proposals possible and is open to speaking to all potential investors (Honest answer: We know Lapping would show up our incompetence so don't want him anywhere near the club. Plan C? We haven't worked out Plans A or B yet)

9. Was Lapping’s claim on May 19 correct that the club’s lawyers had not “fully engaged” in the process of legal and financial due diligence – and if so, why? We will only every undertake expensive due diligence work when we feel it is the appropriate time (Honest answer: Of course we hadn't, we never had any intention of dealing with Lapping)

10. Does the club intend at this stage to proceed with new stadium scheme Project Blue Yonder until and beyond the current lock-out agreement, which we understand to end in October – and when will details be made public?
Confidentiality clause, confidentiality clause, blah, blah , blah. (Honest answer: Is that thing still around, we assumed everyone would have forgotten about it by now. Stop reminding them will you.)

Can I ask a daft question about the "billionaire".
How will we be able to benefit from this in the days of FFP.
I only know how it works in the championship, but do the rules not prevent owners from lobbing money in and the club losing money?

Talk about being an Ostrich, head is firmly in the sand. How can anyone be 'happy' with the way the club is being run?

It's been on a downward spiral ever since they took over.

Why I wonder.
