TOPIC: Racist Chants

The main thing being talked about on social media, and the only thing we're going to be remembered for after the crap game today.
Shame.

Heard the tannoy message warning about it but never heard anything from the paddock, near the scoreboard end.

Was it chanting or just one person shouting summat after the goal?

As usual the actions of a few will tar the whole club. Sat in B stand never heard or saw anything yet you would think off social media it was clearly audible around the ground and involved all the Carlisle fans. At least the culprits will probably never be back at BP anyway. Totally unacceptable

To be fair, that might have just been an odd reaction to the announcement itself which did seem bizarre at the time given there were no racist chants. Was obviously just one arsehole shouting at Kone after the goal. It would seem they got away with it as well.

With 15 TV cameras, numerous pitchside microphones and press photographers not to mention any CCTV, it is very likely the culprit(s) will be identified. The club will know exactly what was said and hopefully can deal effectively with it.

I heard a few obscenities shouted at Kone but nothing racist at least where I was stood in the paddock. Well played Curle and Martinez as well with their handling of the situation during post match press conferences. Can't believe in this day and age a person skin colour is still used as an insult.... So because a player 'thinks' he heard something, all Carlisle fans are deemed racist and the City is painted as a bleak backwater...

Not saying it didn't happen, and if someone is known/found to, they're obviously a knob and deserve being dealt with, but we're going off the word of 1 player here. Save the judge and jury for if its proven...

Gary Lineker said they would discuss the racist comments in greater detail in the highlights show tonight. No doubt the BBC will be going through all their sound recordings to pick out the exact comments. Trouble is it makes for 'interesting' tv to paint Carlisle as flood-ravaged in one breath then behind the times in the next.

Unless its the same sound equipment they used on Top Gear.

It took the whole club, the players and the community to highlight our plight, and one or two morons to instantly wipe away all good will.

I hope the culprit(s) are sorry for what they've done but suspect they won't be, and the decent fans of the club are now burdened with their shame.

Thought the Everton Staff and players were a credit to their club today.

I am not racist, I didn't need being reminded to not be racist by the announcer today. I don't think most people of sound mind will judge all of the club or city, on the actions of one, or a few idiots.
I am sure the full facts of the incident will emerge and appropriate action will be taken.
Anyone found guilty will get the punishment they deserve.

He's not one either but I see John Terry will be leaving Chelsea at the end of the season.

was in the Warwick today, and the only negative chanting i heard was after the first goal which was instantly followed with 'you scouse b*stards' . this caused the everton player to stop celebrating and look into the warwick before walking away.

Thing is, there seems to be no actual hard evidence that anything was said/occured at all. If it did, it was probably one or two arseholes at worst, hardly owt to get all worked up about in reality. Very different to some of the eastern european incidents that still occur on a regular basis. I agree, it should never happen, full stop, but this seems like the storm in a teacup that others mention. In a crowd of this size there will be those who "let the side down" through their lack of intellect and common decency.

I was personally disgusted by the everton fan openly displaying his y fronts, utterly disgusting perverted barsteward. Shouldn't be allowed, women and children in the vicinity, etc, etc.

I was in the Warwick and didn't hear anything racist at all. Certainly no racist chanting. Probably one nugget shouting something after the goal that's all... Then some reaction after the ridiculously over the top announcement, which mentioned abusive comments. Chanting "we're racist and that's the way we like it" in reaction to the announcement is moronic but isn't racist in itself. I don't know if that is what was chanted by the way... I didn't even hear that supposed chant. If there was real racist abuse then they need to be banned though.

However minor the actual incident, it's still disappointing. I can't recall the last time I heard the issue coming up at an English game so for it to happen when the media was here in full force is a real shame. Just makes us look like a backwater.

I heard nothing racist but I did see who I thought was Lennon (could have been pienaar) look round to an area below me to what I deemed to identify who had shouted something at them.
It is unfair to label Carlisle United as racist let's face it we had 9k more fans than usual purely to see Everton. Probably just an armchair premiership fan who has jumped on the bandwagon. The worst I heard was you scouse bustards.

One clown shouting something can hardly make the whole country think Cumbrians are rednecks surely. Bit of a non story really.

As for the racist chants. I was down the other end when they scored the first, was around the WRE for some parts of the game and can honestly say I didn't hear any racist chants. If I had I would have reported them straight away.

I don't think the lack of play worth talking about helped. But storm in a teacup springs to mind.

Without wanting to diminish any possible abuse, so far it seems that the only person to hear anything was Piennar. Looking at the incident on BT Sport (I taped the game), even Kone (who was closer) was unaware until Pienaar drew his attention to it. How fluent in Cumbrian is your average South African?

As I say, I don't mean to diminish any incident if it did happen and any [censored] who did say anything should be banned for life. I just hope this doesn't overshadow the day which its threatening to.

As Alan states faux outrage, how about the other reaction the ones from the never hear anything brigade, it is always convenient to not hear it.

I will state that there is/used to be a racist fucker sits/sat in the east stand and used to regularly abuse black players and Amoo bearing most of the brunt.

I guess nobody heard him either.

For those interested, it got about 20-30 seconds on MOTD; ending with Curle condemning anything untoward that may have been shouted. Presenter Mark Chapman then endorsed Curle's remarks and they moved on.
