TOPIC: new takeover

Was out last night and bumped into a lad who generally knows what's what don at BP. He said that a new bid would be going through from a new bidder. He said that the Pioneer Board are now pushing hard for their cash as their business has plans that are needy of the cash owed to them. He said that the bid is from someone who is well known in the area and won't be particularly popular. Said the next stage was to propose it to the representatives of the fans group. I for one have no idea who he was talking about but he seemed confident that this information was very solid and would move quickly subject to approval.

It's amazing how much information people say they have but always fall short on the actual name(s)

A new takeover, or new takeover bid?

I was actually looking at the Pioneer or more accurately the PFD (Carlisle) Ltd accounts this morning. At the end of April 2015, PFD had £4.6m in cash and £810,750 owed by CUFC. Meat prices have fallen recently so turnover may be down this year but this looks a nice cash-generative business which made £2.5m in pre-tax profits last year. There'd be no problem in borrowing £5m from a bank to fund a deal worth up to £10m so I don't believe there'd be any urgency in being repaid the CUFC loan.

Looking at the situation from AJ's position, his business is doing all right and the club is having its best season for a long time, so he's not going to do anything but sit tight and reject any offers which don't offer cash for investment, his continued directorship and involvement in the club and repayment of all the debt.

Someone who won't be popular? Could be most of the population of Carlisle then. Could be me but I claim that the football club is in my debt to the tune of 1 million pounds although I am happy to wait as I am such a generous chap.

Worryingly heard this from a couple of people tonight that AJ has accepted an offer for half his shares plus some loan write off from Andy Bell.

The strange tweets, the constant support of the current 3 owners, yes nothing to worry about.

Not saying I'm not worried, just wondered if there were any more reasons to be. He hasn't told any fans not to come back if they don't like it (as far as I know) so isn't in Pattison's league.
