I think we had a situation with Lee Miller a couple of years ago where Kavanagh was going to have to stop playing him otherwise Miller could auto renew for another year. It turned out that Miller agreed to wave this option so that he could continue playing for the rest of the season.

I'd imagine this was the situation with Gillespie, he reached his appearances so exercised his right to renew for a year. Likewise Jabo, but we don't really know if he's taken the option as of yet.

They can work like that, but they can also work in the club's favour, where we have the option of extending his contract by an extra year, the player has nothing to agree to as in effect he has already agreed to it when he signed the original contract. This is the article from the O/S when he first signed, from reading that, the option will be at the club's advantage, not the players.

Troy Archibald-Henville - Release, gutted he's not playing so probably time for him to move on, I hope he gets a good move and pitch time.
Derek Asmoah - 6 months or a year whatever he wants and plays best with. Been fantastic this year and deserves a deal.
Angelo Balanta - Release,
Dan Hanford - Release,
Bastien Hery - Release, I dont think it's worked
Jabo Ibehre* - I thought he's played enough for his option to kick in at the clubs discretion. Always happy to have Jabo here!
Alex McQueen - 2 year.
Tom Miller - 2 year.
Michael Raynes - extra year.
Steven Rigg - extra year wont cost much and I'm sure he's got something to offer. Like to see him play behind front one/two
Anthony Sweeney - extra year always terribly underrated IMO.
Joe Thompson - Release.

Just checked and Hery did also have an option, so that's 8 already signed (Tho can't see Brough being used!), with Jabo and Hery on options...
