Oh well, he was a Kavanagh appointment so I'm sure KC will have a clear idea of who he wants to bring in.

Alan Moore Hasn't really been here long enough to judge how successful he has been.

Well if it wasnt for the fact that its pretty certain that Curle will be wanting his own man in this position theres an obvious candidate who loves the club and whos job and working conditions are by no means the best at the minute.

Yes he is but all the staff there believe that Venkys are about to starve the club of cash to the point where all the British Directors have left .

So i.m sure a cheeky little offer of a 3 year contract might just go down well as it seems his role there is now sidelined with all the ex players theyve brought in .

But somehow i think Curle will want his own man in there and i think the advert is just a front as i believe you have to do that to receive the funding if youre not appointing from within.

Heard from a reliable source over the weekend that Moore is going to be in charge of the U9-U16s at PNE. He also told me he was taking a significant pay cut to go there, he just didn't want to work with/for Curle anymore. Just backs up what had already been said on here about them their relationship.

KC is tasked with renewing the club from top to bottom. Whether we get to the play offs or not, he has done a good job so far in the most important area; now he will have the time to concentrate on other areas. He is implementing his overall vision for the club and good luck to him. If people don't like it they have the option to leave.

I agree, he should have given all our crappy youth team players 2 year deals. After all they absolutely walked their league this season didnt they?. If Moores taken a significant paycut to join PNE he was obviously getting paid too much here.

1st yr Pro's get about £150/200 a week. Worth the gamble with a couple every year for me. A good summer training and they're still growing, and they can come back men as opposed to boys.

After an extended period of mismanagement he had to start from scratch - literally by cleaning on the mess of his office and confronting discipline issues. He had to find the players of the calibre to bring stability to the club who were willing to come to a team that did not have the best resumé. He has had to fight against nay sayers and doom mongers while trying to establish a working relationship with the existing ownership structure and all that implies. Etc etc etc .

I think its fair to say he had done a good job!

Have you ever watched the youngsters play then Dancing? I bet you've watched them about the same number of times as Curly Top has then!!
Do you know Alan, do you know how hard he works, how hard he has to try and get more from them, how he trains and assesses them everyday?

So spending £500 on an appeal of a bad red card decision is a waste of money, but we've got 20 grand a year in wages to waste on lads barely good enough to play youth team football?

Getting 60-65 points and being on the edge of the playoff race was par this season IMHO. Despite floods, no transfer fees spent, travelling 15,000 miles and losing our best 2 youngsters in the Summer (and having a bunch of morons running the club) we still have a chance to go up, we've had two good cup runs, beaten 2 teams from divisions above us, and got shot of deadwood like Paynter and Dicker. If you expected automatic promotion after Curle had to clear up the mess from the idiotic Abbott and the lunatic Kavanagh, you're not living in the real world.

No but if he was that good at it he wouldn't be taking a pay cut to join a club 2 divisions above.

If it is Curle or Moore / Overson I would go with Curle every time. Someone has to be assume responsibility for ALL decisions.

If he wants his own man / men in thats is how in goes in the football world. A friend of mine got booted from a Midlands club after many years as the person in charge of education for the youth players as the new manager wanted his own men right through the structure (not that he, and presumably they, lasted long)

Sounds to me like he knew if he didnt jump he would be pushed so took whatever job in his field of experience/expertise that was available to him locally.

Clearly he was exposed the day Kavanagh got the boot but the stories at the time about why he left Bury probably didnt help either.

Just because somebody works hard doesn't make them good at their job. At the end of the day a youth coach will always be judged by how many players they produce for the 1st team. Which at current is 0 under Moore.

Add to it that most managers will want their own staff right through the club, he was always going to be leaving, in all likelihood it would've been sooner but we won't have wanted to waste the money paying him off.

It's not like he's been poached like Kinder was or Scunthorpe tried to do with Dykes.

I don't think Curle should have final say on who runs the youth set up. It's a position that should have more stability than that of first team manager. The person in charge of the youth set up should report to the MD... but we don't have one.

I think id prefer Graham Kavanaghs judgement than that of the other available options. Ie our current director of external affairs or possibly our former director of football.
