Talking about having a good clear out. Half the players being ones he brought in himself at the start off the season. Remember when he told us the players we were signing were far better than what we had. He's saying the team have moved on and left them behind. The excuses and things this man makes out for his ineptness and failings is beyond me. One word springs to mind - clown.

Last seasons squad got us safe with 2 games left.

This seasons squad has got us in the mixup for playoffs.

You seriously think that these players aren't better than last seasons players?

To borrow something you said, one word springs to mind - clown

Well our league position would suggest they are much better than what we had last season. If you genuinely believe we had a better team last season, I'd love to hear your explanation.

It has.

Well you said it.

Here's his comments:

“We brought in a number of players at the beginning of the season and, without being disrespectful to some of the players there, because of how quickly we’ve progressed, we’ve left some of those players behind.

“That’s because they haven’t been able to get the game-time that their careers need.

“That’s not disrespectful, it means we’re being progressive.

“For any player that comes in, there’s no guarantee of a starting place – that creates a competitive environment which you need to be successful.”

Bold - Makes no sense as to why we dont rejoin the reserves league, even if it isn't competitive enough

Form since Christmas does not lie, it is relegation form. while at it some of the stuff were playing is and has been abysmal. Team selections and formations are questionable to say the least. But let's not forget it people he is the next messiah. Wake up and give yourselves a shake. Been at 4 clubs previous and not done a thing with them apart from fall out with people.

This thread isn't panning out as you'd expected is it dazzyblue? Do you think he should give The likes of Balanta etc a new contract?

It does suggest though that even he says he has brought in a load of players who aren't good enough to play in a side who are in tenth place in League Two.

Taking that on its own, regardless of improvement this season, it's hardly a glowing endorsement of this magnificent scouting system that they go on about.

So brainbox

How easy do you reckon it is to attract or sell a club to players that has clung on to league status by skin of teeth and been in freefall for a couple of years???

We have consolidated this year and are a far better option for players than last season having flirted with play offs rather than relegation

He had a crap team and he brought in a stack of ok players which moved us up from the bottom to mid table. He will now repeat the process and replace the decent ones with good ones and, fingers crossed that will put us in the promotion frame next season. Rome wasn't built in a day. As for tactics he is juggling players' egos, injuries, good/bad form and specific threats from the opposition. Some times he makes changes and he gets it wrong but he also gets it right. Lets give him a wee bit time. If we are still 10th at this time next season than questions should be asked

Nothing to do with planning out how I expected dancing bear. They shouldn't off been given a contract in the first place along with the likes of Thompson, hery, osei, pedro. No good in the hustle and bustle of league 2 football. It's big strong ball winning players you need not namby pamby lightweight players that we've got. Going on about how we struggle to get players here. Have a look at Accrington they seem to manage and probably paying a lot less than carlisle, difference is they have players that want to play and want to be there not players from as far away as London that only train twice a week and don't want to be here. But as I think tasty has said that must be down to the fantastic scouting and coaching system that we have.

We are a league 2 club. We've had shite managers for years, now we have a manager that has steadied the shitty downward slide we are getting back to where we should be. Start of the season I would have been happy with a top 10 finish, we had to consolidate this season, I mean look at Shrewsbury who were relegated with us from league 1, went back up last season and they're hovering over the relegation trapdoor. Wycombe, they yoyo between leagues 1&2 like there's no tomorrow. Curle isn't the best manager in the world, he never will be hence why he's at Carlisle United rather than Manchester United.

Can you give an indication of who would have been a better signing that would have wanted to come here last summer? Who would be a better manager at any point in the past 18 months that would have done better for Carlisle in the long run?

Wouldn't go as far as calling Curle a clown, but Dazzy does have a point, seems to have brought in a lot of players with a fair percentage not being anywhere near the first team (I know all clubs do this), but Abbott was absolutely crucified on here for doing the same.

I wouldn't say "a fair percentage not being anywhere near the first team " i.d say only Osei and Balanta have been total faliures.most of the rest have at least been making the matchday squad on a regular basis and i think you can treat Thompson as a special case given his history.

And i would of thought that given where all the players he signed came from non of them [ with the exception of Jabo ] would be on top money

And if it wasnt for the problems we hit around christmas time we may well of released a couple more but by keeping certain of them to have bodies in the building as he says he at least knew what he had rather take chances

He inherited a squad of losers in the main. He had to put up with them, scrap with them, try and bring in new ones that the others would consider a threat and also they new he would want to fire them out at the end of the season. A very difficult start but he staved off relegation.
This season he has brought in many of his own but there are still faces he has had to manage from the previous regime and he will get shot of those at the end of the season or earlier like he did with dicker and beck. I don't agree with all his choices but in the main the players are his and the players are better than before.
Every manager brings in flops but the better manager brings in more good than bad and gets the most out of the ones he has at his disposal.
Next season is the time to judge as they will be all his players and all his choices. This season isn't over but it has already been a big improvement.
Promotion is a must next season whereas this season we can be happy that the tide has turned. On the pitch at least.

But only 2 of them were league games and we still recorded 3 pts from them which is probably onlY one less than youd of predicted if wed played them at BP

Love this. You call someone a clown then go onto misspell a two letter word which wasn't even the correct word to use in the first place
