I think its disgusting that its been scrapped without the say/so of the supporters.

If only 1 had applied then so be it, to get 3 in the circumstances was great - it at least gives choice. To not be given that choice is an utter disgrace. Its obvious though to me that they didn't want the person on the board that they thought was going to win - that in itself is a utter disgrace!

But i'm not surprised in the slightest - at least the club can be held accountable for canceling this position and not the supporters for not applying, thats the main thing!

Apologies but I find this disgusting - It surely didn't matter if 1 or 1000 had applied the principle had to be the same. They was nothing advertised that said they had to be a limited number of applicants.

It's quite obvious from where i'm standing in that they was an obvious winner of this! and its decided by whoever above that this person is not going to get this position or have publicity, which in itself is silencing of the supporters.

I'm not surprised by this decision and i'm sure it won't be taken lightly by the press and supporters and the club will need to accept the criticism that comes its way. Such a shame that this decision was taken after I met AJ and JN who i thought talked well but were full of shit really.

Good riddance to the position. They would NEVER have let it work and would have been hoping for an application from someone who they could put firmly under their thumb. The last thing they would have wanted was another Claire; hard-working and ultimately honest, not just peddling their rhetoric and not afraid to ask difficult questions. Without such a person, why would we want the position?

Old Trafford had a suspect package in their bogs. We've got three in out boardroom..

Fit and proper persons test is needed by FA-FL to start assessing their behaviour.

Blame anyone but themselves..You couldnt make it up... 3 or 12 applicants.. respect should be given to fans regardless..They need to take a look at themselves to why so few... but they are ostriches with heads in the sand... They will eventually bottle out of the forum coz i think its gonna get extremely spicy...Hoping it turns into a protest live on air... they will hate it.

I am sure you can understand that the low number of applicants demonstrates the lack of support for the position. To draw a shortlist of four candidates is not possible from only three applicants.



In terms of a winner, there were three strong candidates for the position and certainly no person was cast in stone as a clear choice I am sure. The position is not about personal gain or personal publicity but one to assist the club and strengthen the links between the club and its supporters. This is something we will continue to work hard at, and both myself and Phil King see this as an important aspect of our roles at the club.



I acknowledge that there will be criticism of the decision but as I said this is not one we have taken lightly, but we feel the role needs to be representative of the fans and without their support, which is evident from the lack of applicants, the role becomes difficult to maintain and develop.



I am sorry you feel this way but please be assured that the decision was not taken lightly and was given serious consideration due to the nature of the role.



As always, I am happy to speak further if you so wish.

Having a shortlist of four candidates is a internal rule which, surely, they don't have to comply with. My respect for this lot gets lower by the minute. Good decision, wrong reason.

What if the 3 applicants were better than the shortlist for last years position?

I made an effort to meet them and gave AJ and JN respect and listened to what they had to say, which has now been proved to be full of shit!

Lies about CW and they told me they were very keen for fans representation and for the role to continue, obviously not. Also the lie about JN not being MD was also interesting.

I hate the wording of all of the communications that come out of the club.

In both the statement on the website, and in that email to Mullen, they try to make it look like Suzanne Kidd and Phil King are in charge of things, but we all know for damn sure that they've got no control.

I'm sure SK and PK aren't faultless in all of this, but it's crazy the way the whole place is run.

The three candidates could have been the three best possible candidates for the role and who would really have made it work. As it is they prob decided Mullen had a chance of winning and pulled it.

People really have to stop believing that he was going to go in all guns blazing. He had the opportunity to do so and decided against it.

There's no way that is the right course of action to take, you'd get absolutely nowhere with approaching a meeting like that, but some on here are talking like they're scared stiff of him. They're not. They pulled the whole process because Mullen had a chance of being elected? Absolute tosh.

I think Mullen has already apologised to Claire about what he said.

That's great, he gets respect for that. He also gets respect for going in to that meeting with AJ and JN in the right way, and being sensible about it.

But it doesn't take away from the fact that they are not scared of him.

No, of course I wasn't there. As I said, from what I can gather; for you at least, it was really quite a productive meeting and you got some good answers to your questions, certainly from one of the two. I just want to dispel this myth that you're powerful enough that the idea of you being elected fans' rep would make them pull the plug on it.

Apart from a select few, who would be completely unsuitable for the role in that they're still supporters of the board, pretty much everyone would be asking the same questions over and over and over again if they got the role if fans' rep. We discuss them enough on here, they're in Jon Colman's articles often enough, and most importantly (as the representative of the fans) you'd be badgered by folk to ask them. We also know that anyone in that position, which has now been proven to be a completely token one, will be hushed and bound by a maze of confidentiality.

They're in such an autocratic situation that if anything whatsoever gets a little bit uncomfortable for them, they can brush it under the carpet. For me the timing of all of these things that happen is the most worrying and damning aspect of their plans. It's all so considered, so planned, so spiteful. Got a problem with something? Wait 3 months for the season to start again. You won't move them, I won't move them, MRF having a go at them at the last match of the season won't move them, a protest won't move them (mainly because come August we'll have forgotten all of this - again).

It won't be too long before Jon Colman is banned from Brunton Park. The more he goes down this route of trying to get answers, the more he'll be shut out.

Totally and utterly disgusted in this decision but not at all surprised. There were few reminders about the closing date and I could see that this position was going to die a death.

I considered applying myself, knowing I wouldn't be a suitable candidate, just to get the numbers up and then didn't get round to it, I wish I had.. The fact that there were only three gave a get out clause, although I'm not sure quite how that worked as having three candidates surely gives fans choice, or was it just what they meant was none of the three were suitable yes men?

While that position was there at least there was a line of communication, however weak. I think Claire did a lot of good work, starting from scratch and the role could have been taken a lot further. Now another door has been slammed shut. Mushroom compost anyone?

Agree - JN and AJ did say to me that they didn't like the press as they are too negative.

But if they keep doing things like this theres nothing positive to announce. AJ and JN from what Ive seen of them are spoilt little(old) boys that are happy when they get everything their own way. As soon as it stops they will do anything so it turns back in their favor.
