What is it they say the more things change the more they stay the same.

Well if you read Carlisle United The Complete Story ,only up to 2008 mind you'll see that nothing has changed since 1904 ....no money, managers leaving coz there was no money.....up and down the lower leagues, except for that period of Div 2 and eventually Div 1 ...... Thats consistency !!

Sadly, since 1974/75 or trajectory has only been upwards a couple of times, under Knighton and then under Story. What does this demonstrate? For me it shows we need someone with vision and drive, not necessarily just cash. Jenkins has cash but no drive or vision and thus he's never taken us forward. Knighton had no cash but could get things moving and drag people along with his show. Fred, despite what NORTHERNSOUL says, got people working and made things happen, he"steered us" you might say, but said from the start he wouldn't be throwing cash at it. So what went wrong? Knighton cracked up and couldn't find anymore cash, Story driven out by a clash of ego's with the trust and were back to square one, an owner with cash but no vision or ambition.
