Great business so far with signings, but what positions and who, realistically would you want to bring in?

For me, I think we need a new GK, CB and Striker.

Goalkeeper wise, I'd be happy with a young stopper released from a higher club, who has the ability to play league 2/1 football and keep Gillespie on his toes

CB - Hartley from Plymouth, even though mentioned by teenagers on twitter, would be the sort of player who Curle would want. Leon Barnett has been released from Wigan, possibly out of our league, but now 30, can play CB and RB/LB.

Striker - if he'd come this North, Akinfenwa. I wasn't sure at first but thinking about it, he's just got the ability to change a game and seems to create an uncertainty with the opposition. I wouldnt want him as our main starter, but with hopefully more balls coming into the box this season, he'd cause havok. Jabo and Charlie would benefit off that havok

Miller at Morecambe, is surely worth a look too as well as Akpa Akpro, who's been released from Shrewsbury

We need a nippy mobile striker who plays on the shoulder, even more so now we've signed Devitt.

Basically the total opposite to Akinfenwa.

I'm certain we will be signing one, otherwise it was completely pointless releasing Asamoah.

Keeper, Centre half, Central Mid, Winger and 2 forwards. (9 out (plus all the loan players), 11 in.

Forwards, i'd like someone like Curtis Main or Shaun Miller. Martin Patterson released by Blackpool would be a gamble.

Winger - Someone in the mould of David Amoo, Campbell-Ryce would be ideal.

Midfielder - Billy Knott from Bradford.

Defender - Zoumana Bakayogo, Talks have stalled at Crewe, Can play left back or centre half.

Keeper - Sam Slocombe or Trevor Carson

and Few trialists

We have just signed 3 wide players not sure our next striker needs to be able to too

We need a nippy pacey pain in the arse for defenders that will chase them down striker and possibly another young forward on loan

We obviously need another goalie I would actually like a potential no 1 keeper
Gillespie was injury free last year which was good but I think he has stalled and he might benefit from genuine competition or should I say the team would benefit with competition in that area

need another CB

It seems a lot of the opinions about Gillespie are that he is OK but would prefer better.

I think that's mine as well, but I'm not sure if that's fair because I, and I suspect most others, are using Westwood as a yardstick for the standard of our keeper. He was outstanding at our level, he's a current international for goodness sake, so are we setting the bar too unrealistically high?

from what I've seen of Devitt, he doesn't strike me as an out and out winger. He tends to end up in central areas, behind the striker.

What i was thinking, doesnt seem to have an awful lot of pace but seems to play on the half turn. suited to a 4231 as the attacking midfielder.

If we do play 4-2-3-1 do we need 4 strikers ? I'd say 3 would he enough, though the next one has to have pace to burn like Asamoah.

Striker options might include old boy Jordan Cook. He's been offered a new 1 year-deal at Walsall but would be a potential target if we could afford his wedge and fits in well with the profile of adding someone with a bit of pace to the forward line. Not particularly highly rated judging the recent opinions of Saddlers fans on the League One forum and likely to be bench material or loaned out if still at the club.

We need 4, not gonna play 1 up top for the whole season (or even till January) 1 injury an you're buggered.

Jordan Cook sprung to my mind as well when thinking about what we still needed. He had pace to burn when he was here and could play up front or as a winger. Also fits Curles trend of signing players who have been offered extensions rather than released.

Two centre backs (one of them must have pace and be able to pass a football), cover/competition at left back, a right back (unless both our re-sign), a back up keeper and a pacey striker. and then we are good to go.

Defence is the area we need to strengthen most. If we go into the campaign with the same defence we won't go up. We just let in way too many goals currently to challenge in the top 5.

Keeper, Defender and Striker is the minimum, assuming both full backs re-sign.

Billy Kee would be my ideal striker target, scores goals in this division but also second in last seasons assist table.

Can't believe someone wants a "winger in the mould of David Amoo"

Yeah, I do. Didnt think overall he was a great player but he was an outball and seemed to beat his man most times with his pace. just his crossing and workrate let him down.

Hmm, so we should be on the lookout for a winger who doesn't track back and who's crossing lets him down? Maybe Curle should head down to Melbourne Park on a Sunday morning if this is what he's after

A bit like Jefferey Monakana, you know the one everyone raved about.
