Vardy and Sturridge in. Fair enough.

Full backs changed to Bertrand and Clyne. Just about acceptable, given that it's common practice to rotate full-backs these days.

Henderson and Wilshire into midfield. Jesus Wept.

Vardy, Sturridge, Wilshere, Barkley, Forster, Bertrand in.

Kane, Sterling, Rooney, Alli, Hart, Rose out.

That would be my changes, what's the point in bringing players if you not gonna give them a chance to play as you'd imagine the team will be pretty much fixed once we get into the knockouts.

Was on the radio and also in other media reports, for whatever reason they seem to unofficially reveal the team, the day before matches, to the media.
It is normally correct (was for the first two games).
I don't mind using the squad, just I think Henderson is rubbish and Wilshere isn't very reliable.
I'm a bit disappointed as I thought the midfield was looking better and I was hoping we could put together a convincing performance tonight.

Does this mean we don't actually want to win the group? Wales will play an unchanged team, and beat Russia. England must win this game to win the group and get an easier route through to the quarter final. Is this the time to play half a team? I don't think so.

Why take a squad of players if half of them aren't good enough to play ?

Ask every Carlisle manager for the last 30 years.

Seriously, the forward changes are fair enough, Sterling is not anywhere near good enough. If it is right he's changing the full backs, then that is unlikely to weaken the team too much, but I'm afraid destroying the midfield is just gross stupidity. Henderson and Wilshere are not up to the standard of Dier and Alli. This is a must win game for England and the absolute minimum, I as a part time supporter of England, should expect, is that the best available team plays.

a fortnight ago Kane was the bees knees and Rooney wasnt good enough for the squad let alone the starting 11.

If we win then fair play to Roy it'll be good to get players game time. but it could backfire, but so could picking any line up.

I suppose in the end it doesn't matter because we'll be going out in the quarter finals whichever way we go, but it is going to be an enormous embarrassment finishing behind Wales in the group.

To be fair though both Kane and Alli have been off the pace in the 2 games they've played so far. Perhaps taking them out will refocus them a bit for the knockouts rounds, or someone else could come in and have a blinder and force their way in, that's why I'd play Barkley in place of Alli.

I'd keep Dier all day long, we don't have anyone else that can do what he does for the team.

Alli's part in that second goal against Wales should not be overlooked. He hasn't been at his best, granted, but he is better (more creative certainly) than Henderson and is 100% fit unlike Wilshere. Barkley also worries me a bit, his end to the season wasn't so good, and he blows hot and cold, but him for Alli is the only change in midfield I could stomach as long as it is only for the one game. Alli is the future of the England midfield for years to come in my view.

Yes they did. They already had 6 points and were very likely to have won the group already. Look what making those changes did as well, Switzerland were nowhere near England during qualification, and they could well have won last night. We end up drawing we'll finish second in the group because Wales will win.

If the swiss had won last night they had won the group. i agree Wales will win but that is a very good side we have out.

The example I always think of is Holland in 2008. Amazing for the first two games, thrashed both France and Italy so then rested key players for the last group game. They then lost all momentum and lost their quarter final. Not saying England are playing that well - far from it - but it still seems daft to lose whatever momentum has been built up. Plus, we technically haven't qualified yet.

Don't see this as a weaker team

if anything with the two up top more of a goal threat

bearing in mind I'm neither a Hart or Wilshire fan...

Should win

Pedro of Chelsea claiming sitting on the bench for Spain is a waste of his time. If he played for us he'd be home by megabus* and never play for our country again.

*Megabus doesn't stop in Carlisle anymore, who knew..

[censored] frustrating isn't it.
Wilshere and Henderson just don't cut the mustard. One good pass, then one bad pass isn't an acceptable ratio at this level, to me.

I honestly don't understand Woy persisting with Henderson. Lucky to be in the 23 in my opinion and still on the pitch ahead of our 2 most creative players in Lallana and Wilshire.

I know that there's 20 minutes left, but this is a disgrace. As if picking Wilshire wasn't bad enough, he's left Henderson on the pitch. When these lot break away and score, which is what we're asking for that will be us third in the group. Everyone in the country knew what was needed, and knew the best team to achieve it except Hodgso.

He is a disgrace, win, lose or draw, this is pathetic.

To me, this is far more frustrating than watching Carlisle, these lot are supposed to be the best players we have in the country and we're being shown the way by Wales. The manager must resign.

Woy deserves a kicking for that
Makes loads of unnecessary changes and then makes 3 sub that makes an already unbalanced attack even more unbalanced

Hope the English media are happy after all their clamour to get Vardy and Sturridge to start in attack
Sturridge though talented is a selfish c*** who f**ks up most attacks and you can see tonight Vardy is never an international class forward
If all you can do is run onto long balls then you are a pretty one dimensional player .
Jordan Henderson FFS !

Hodgso has shown he is incapable of managing at this level, he has also shown us that Wilshere and Henderson were massive errors of judgement and should never have been in the squad.

Clyne did well.

People might laugh at me but that game against a team happy to sit and defend was crying out for Andy Carroll to get in the area and shake them up a bit a plan B if you like but we seem to not like a target man these days

I still don't get what folk see in Wilshire

Vardy will come into his own against a team that attacks us the lad needs ground in front of him

Well that was a monumental balls up...

Our potential games now are:
Runner up F - 8pm in Nice on Mon
France - 8pm in St Denis on Sun
Ger/Ita - 8pm in Marseille on Thu

Whereas a win would've possibly given us:
3rd Place - 5pm in Paris on Sat
Belg/Hun - 8pm in Lille on Fri
Spain - 8pm in Lyon on Weds

Wales will be laughing...
Win or Lose, Up The Blues!

I think Roy's plan was to finish second from the start. Playing.the second in Portugal's group looks a reasonably easy match as long as its not Portugal! :cheer:

Too many changes cost us, Walker and Rooney were our best 2 players in the other games. Henderson and Wiltshire shouldn't have made the squad in the first place

Some observations.
Clyne and Lallana were the best players for England by far.
There were at least 3 England midfielders (DA, Wilshire, Rooney) who were worse than Henderson.
We seem to never want to stick in an inswinging corner. This is madness. Bertrand on set plays, really?!
Rooney has been useless for 2 years and shouldn't be in the squad.
We are paying for picking 1 winger who has been below average for 2 years (Sterling) and leaving another at home. Not enough width.
Vardy thrives on early balls forward, play in the channels, and crosses into the box. Think we did this about twice. Poor.
Sturridge - play him in the middle of a 3, or as a pair, or up front on his own. Down the right, madness. He won us the last game.
Wilshere - emperor's new clothes. But it's always been far easier to win an England cap if you play for Arsenal or Spurs.
Kane. Hello? Anybody there?
Smalling, an accident waiting to happen. Jagielka must be fuming watching at home.
Hodgson. 10 tournament games in charge of England, 3 wins, all by 1 goal, against Sweden, Ukraine, and Wales. 10 goals. Squandering the resources he has IMO.

Ah well. At least it isn't important, like Carlisle. That run in looks alright to me CCU!

It was a strange situation at the end as Slovakia would have probably taken a 1-0 defeat, let alone 0-0.

I'm not a fan of Henderson, his quality of passing, crossing and set pieces, is just not good enough.

Frustrated, annoyed, disappointed.

Lots of heat on the team and manager now, could have been avoided.

QF v France would be good one to look forward to, but really hoping we avoid Portugal in R2.

I have sympathy for Roy usually, he gets stick whatever he does, but that was a bad mistake tonight, which will probably cost him his job.

It would be quite a bizarre set of results for Portugal to finish 2nd. They're far more likely to finish 1st or 3rd. If they do somehow finish 2nd it's because they haven't done that well against Hungary in which case we shouldn't be that worried. The frustration is that as a result of tonight we'd quite likely have to go through France, then Germany, then Spain to actually win the thing.

I thought Henderson played alright as well to be honest. Bertrand should have been red carded first half for that elbow but the commentators just glossed over it. Brian Moore must be turning in his grave listening to that Tydlsley c**t. Surprised he didn't mention 66 for once.

Typical Emgland to be fair, lacking flair and not clinical enough in front of goal. The squad is weak and this was proven tonight. The press/media hailed the game against Russia as good performance. Really? We should have beaten them! The Welsh did and do did the Slovaks. We failed to finish chances then and we did tonight.
Woy's choices are flawed. Wilshere, played three games in prem, never gonna be match fit for a tournament. Sterling, a show pony who fails to deliver. Henderson, his big problem is? He's not Steven Gerard and never will be! Vardy, cracking laal player but not starting with Sturridge, too lightweight. Sturridge, can be brilliant on his day but can too often be bossed out the game. I'm frustrated by tonight. From
Now on he will have to play the best team he can but does he know what that is???
Grrrrrrrrr!!!!

It's a series of awful decisions 182, and shows he is well out of his depth. No way at all should either Wilshere or Henderson have been near the squad.

Six changes for a must win game was stupidity of the highest order knowing Wales were very likely to win. This on top of substituting Rooney in the first game and handing the worst team in the tournament a point. We are a disgrace, and Hodgso is an appalling manager.

Hodgson praised both Wilshere and Henderson in his interview after the game saying they had good games, Beggars belief. I cannot believe anyone paid £20 Million for Henderson but I'm chuffed to bits it was the Scouse Filth. He can't even play a five-yard pass and as for his crosses.

Same crack as usual really as in the first half-decent team they meet they'll be out. They really don't deserve the following they get either which was excellent as usual.

Wins for Portugal and Iceland on Weds would see Portugal possibly finish 2nd. As they drew with each other, it would go to Goals Scored etc. Portugal would need to better Iceland on Weds to overtake them...

Are there actually people who think Rooney should be on the pitch? Astonishing. Is it because of his vast experience of playing well in tournaments, or running games from midfield?
He was far worse than Henderson tonight.

The big plusses for me so far are the full backs..cant remember a clutch of full backs with so much potential as we have now

lallana looks a cracking player and Vardy is lightning and always looks dangerous

With those full backs and Vardy we are going to be very dangerous on the counter and is going to be our best way forward

I would have taken Townsend Carroll and Drinkwater or Noble but hey we are still in it and nobody looks brilliant

Well Henderson is just one of those players who divides opinion I suppose.
In the first half, we were completely dominant and it just needed a little bit of guile to score a goal.
Henderson had a couple of decent moments and a couple of extremely poor ones.
He probably wasn't the worst performer tonight for England, but he's just one of those players that fails to deliver, for me.
He wins a corner, then he puts over a terrible delivery, he has a reasonable shot, not this time, maybe next time he'll find the top corner, but again, no. He puts in a poor free-kick, then another one, then he has a good bit of play.
He reminds me a bit of Carlton Palmer, can't fault his effort, work rate and he obviously has some talent, but he just lacks quality.
