TOPIC: Will there be any no shows from our players tomorrow?

Will any of the squad who have been told to leave not turn up for training?

If so, I'd go for either Dicker or Paynter failing to show face.

Dicker's followed the new lad on Twitter so guessing he's still very much in tune with goings on at the club.

I'd say the only reason for a no-show would be going on-trial at another club.

Meppen the weapon would be my guess if any of them were to not show up, although as it is I think they all will. Dicker would be the last one to decide against coming I should think.

Could be mistaken but didn't Danny Grainger mention on the radio that he'd expect Dicker to be the first one back to training and said he'd be at the front of all the running etc. If I had to put money on any of them not turning up I'd have said Paynter or CMW, can't see it happening though.

I would be surprised if any in-contract players fail to show.
Whether they were told they were wanted or not, professionalism must prevail, what would a potentially interested club think of players AWOL.

I hope it's a case of he's got himself fixed up with another club but it isn't finalised yet. If he's just sitting on his arse then he's a disgrace.

If it's a case of him sitting on his arse then surely that's a breach of contract and we can simply just get rid?

And as you say, other reason could be he's found another club. Win/win situation if you ask me.

Probably waiting for Sean O'H to turn up to give him a lift in.

But I thought Paynter was ace against Plymouth and should be starting every game and scoring 47 goals to power us up the leagues, and everything has been down to nasty KC mistreating a good pro?

Jon Colman has just tweeted that Paynter could be on his way to Hartlepool. Saying CUFC won't comment but Ronnie Moore is known to be keen on him.

That would be great. Getting him off the pay roll would be a nice weight lifted.

Northumbrian - I'm not sure what your point is over the fine. If I have it correct the following is what happened:
1. Paynter and Dicker do something Curle is unhappy about or is against club rules.
2. Curle disciplines them and they are fined.
3. They appeal this to the PFA (not sure if they appealed being disciplined, the size of the fine or both).
4. PFA decision was that fine should be reduced - so agreed that they should have been disciplined.

And your issue here is with Curle, not the two players (presumably) breaking club rules?

But I guess if his aim was to get rid of certain players before the end of their contract, and his methods forced them to leave early, then you could say his methods have worked. I think it's pretty clear he can only work with a certain type of player character and therefore needs to fill his squad with that character asap to get 100% buy-in to his methods. If he gets that type of character in and the team plays well and gets results then none of us will care what happened last season. All I am saying is just because the Curle and the club release a version of events it doesn't mean it is actually the full story... and just because people want to think the worst of footballers in general, it doesn't mean that everything written about them is true. Don't you find it strange how Dicker has been a model pro everywhere he has been... I've yet to hear a bad word about him from any of the Carlisle players I've spoken to... yet he is suddenly portrayed as a lazy, rebellious footballer because he is no longer wanted by the manager? Don't believe the hype.

Last season is last season though... I think we have signed a few decent players and the squad is starting to take shape. Hopefully Curle get's in the "yes men" that he wants and who will buy into his methods and we start to see much better football and results. It is a high risk way to manage but it worked for Brian Clough I guess... albeit 30-40 years ago. Keep Dempsey and get a couple of pacey wingers and the picture will be looking a lot more rosey for next year.
