Another couple in today, and we've still got all these lads in on trial as well. I never thought it would be the case, but I'm quite interested to see how all this lot looks playing together. I might well be tempted to a couple of the away friendlies when a couple of weeks ago I'd have said I wasn't going to bother.

This is starting to look like we're getting a team together that will be in the right half of the table, if all goes well challenging the top 7.

Jon Colman saying on twitter that's 24 contracted professionals now.. Along with 8 on trial!

Surely got to shift some players, not only to decrease the playing budget but to help morale! That's 8 first team players not involved each matchday. Won't go down well...

As a world class (ok average) Sunday league player competition is always healthy as it makes you want to perform and be involved so you're not paying £3 to sit, crouch, lurk on the sidelines in Botch! It should be no different as a professional!

I think having competition is a good thing but 24 players is way too many for a league 2 side. Think 20-21 max is a sensible number. Think Keith will be trying to shift another 3/4 players out before he signs too many more.

He's trying to shift 7. I assume he'd be quite happy to keep a couple of them, if they're prepared to put in the work and try to be part of the team moving forward. Beck needs to move though, so does Dicker really and I'm not sure about Meppen-Walter (I was in the BFD camp when he was signed, but think thre is something about him) and Troy with being unavailable so much. If those 4 were to move I imagine another defender ans a winger in and we'd be just about there.

Couple of injuries suspensions general loss of form and it all goes to pot... The lads he's signing are young and hungry and likely to be able to take being left out certain weeks as opposed to seasoned pro's like Paynter who likely would have been fuming!

I reckon we'll cart a few out but more will come in so 23-25 will be my guesstimate as to the squad size

I think we'll keep one of TAH and CMW. Personally I'd love to keep Dicker and shift Sweeney and Kearns from the midfield. Yeah Mark Beck's days are surely numbered, should never have offered him a new deal. I reckon he'll go back across the border.

I too think we need that many. I don't think you can really manage with fewer than that these days. A few younger players now, along with a few with great experience, and then those in the middle just making their way. I think we've a decent balance in terms of experience as well as in the different areas of the squad. I think we look pretty decent if I'm honest.

Lee Dykes has been busy. It is refreshing to hear him talk about tracking players for a while unlike previous managers signing players without having seen them play or blaming location or budget for their failure to get players in.

My first thought when I saw Bastian Hery was "Rod Thomas".

We need a David Currie as well!

Dunno how they are at football but it looks like they could be a cracking street dance outfit. Hery can be like the laal guy off diversity and get thrown up in the air by Troy to get the paddock going!!!.

We need a load of players so he can pick a new team every week. I'll be amazed if he sticks with the same starting 11 for more than two games in a row.

Careful moorlad many foolishly predicted a promotion push team last year. Unless he can get the midfield playing a damn sight better than last year I'll predict an average at best position.

Curle loves to tinker so expect a bit if swapping about, of course successful teams are pretty settled line ups hence I reckon we will still end up struggling.

would be in the club`s interest to get a Reserve team in a league - I`ve harped on about this before but why not? I can`t think of any good reason why it wouldn`t be benficial

Of course it would be beneficial, only a fool would think otherwise, having fit reserve players ready to push for a place or a stand out performance and promoted to the team, isn't that what football was all about ?

It is all well and good having these youth teams but there seems to be nowhere for the older reserve to keep interested and keen.

In the prem it is all Eds football and imo they are just as bad, top class footballers not getting much action isn't a good thing and nor is it for division 2 players.

Rob Peters......and he didnt just miss an open goal, he missed the entire ball. if i remember rightly.....the pitch was a mud bath after a lot of rain. Peters had done the hard work and with a simple tap in required, his standing foot slipped and he fell over. we won the game 1 - 0 v Hereford Utd.

Yeah, he'd beaten about 4 players coming in from his wing rounded the keeper and took an air shot in front of the WRE.

I don't think we'll be at the top. At least he has bought in 2 right backs so hopefully 1 of them will come good but the rest of the defence? Gillespie is always injured, Raynes and Atkinson at centre back? Grainger at left back. The new winger he has signed wasn't offered a contract at Bristol R. Centre midfield looks strong, Ibhere I think will be a good signing and 1 of the right backs will be decent but it will be a push to even threaten the play offs. At the bottom though a few clubs are cutting budgets so I don't see us going down

That's because you haven't seen us play yet! :-)

Rob Peters - I remember the Hereford game. He also played one of the best passes I've ever seen when he stopped suddenly on one wing and played a delightful ball across to the other wing. Sticks in my mind that one. I cannot remember who the opposition was though.

Have to say I was very optimistic before the last season started with the players we got, and I am even more optimistic this time. All we need is the investment situation to be sorted one way or another so we know where we all stand.

With the latest fashion of lower league club takeovers it could come down to who signs the best billionaire rather than the players, The lack of glamour clubs available for a workable price means the money people are starting to look lower down for their new corporate toy.
