Seems quite a few of our ex players head north of the border. But hope he does well.

I really fancy this one to come back and bite us in the arse. Supposedly Partick had to beat League 1 clubs to signing him, a few managers have obviously seen something in him. Still think he could've done a job for us next season especially when we've just gone and signed Balanta who sounds worse than Amoo.

F*cking hell we could sign a blind paraplegic and some people on here would say to give him a chance. I'm allowed to be underwhelmed at a signing, I think it would have been smarter to keep Amoo than let him go and sign a guy who managed less than 20 Conference games last season.

Can't remember if it was Huddesfield or Tranmere who voted Kev Gray their worst ever player, bet you thought he was crap before seeing him play.

na.....Amoo had served his time at our club, and besides i think Holt was heavily critical of his attitude last season......during his sports hour show Holt said about 1 particular home game "after he pulled out of a header that was it for me....i would never rate him good enough".

I'd imagine Amoo was on a fairly decent wage having signed from (Preston was it?) when we were in league one.

Releasing him was the correct decision. Balanta will be on a low wage incentivised short term deal. If it doesn't work out we bring someone else in and Balanta gets sent packing in jan.

Although he wasn't our worst player, come the end of last season Amoo was pretty much the first player on my release list.

He's been more successful with us than any of his previous clubs but the lack of spirit and very patchy form still made him a perpetual let down.

He's going to struggle to bite, or even prickle, our arses playing for Partick Thistle.

Amoo was terrible for us. I've never seen a winger turn back inside and bottle it as much as he did. He was the first name on the top of my released list. there becomes a point where unfulfilled potential just means your poor and he's been found out at ever club he's been at now.

If we're planning on having a solid defence and being at the right end of the table then Amoo wouldn't have to be disliked so much for not tracking back. Going forward he was a great winger for this level, hence why League 1 clubs have been after him.

David Amoo would be ok playing in a decent team. He's played on the wing for two seasons in arguably our worst side ever.

First season he did quite well but then he lost confidence badly when he was slated while others got away Scot free for playing far worse. Wingers are generally an easy target for the boo boys, particularly in the paddock!

I too reckon that in a decent team given the licence to express himself he'd have been more than good enough.... His goals return was superb and the quality of some of his goals made it better.... The header moving away from goal vs Tranmere in the 1-0 win showed wonderful technique!

Ultimately he's spent two seasons playing in front of a shit defence leaking over 140 goals without proper full backs to support him... I wish him all the best and reckon he'll be an asset to someone... Also his last interview when he was released, he spoke far better than I expected... Thoroughly decent bloke!

Good point about the full backs. He lost his man in one game that led to a goal. Fair enough but what about the defenders putting a tackle in now and again.

I agree that the team are collectively responsible for performances but this is a double edged sword. The defense need wingers to take pressure off them and the wingers need good defensive performances to give them confidence and set up attacking play. But for me Amoo only showed occasionally what he was capable off and more often than not he was unable to take pressure off defense if anything he added to it. I wish it was different and it worked out for him, he certainly wasn't helped by the team around him but that is why he and many others have left. Good luck to the lad he's always come across as a lovely guy but for me he has the talent, he just doesn't know how to use it and several managers have now failed to develop that as he drops through the leagues. Nevertheless I wish him well.

I would say that he must be on a similar wage at Partick which he would have to be happy with. Only a 1 year contract mind, so they know that he's a risk and this to me means that the L1 clubs weren't offering any better.

If he bottled the ruff and tumble of L2 he better grow some balls for Scottish football.

Lets see how many games he starts. Maybe Curle has Miller at RB with McQueen in front of him in mind. Amoo didn't have enough of an all round game about him, right to boot him out, not what we need

Very likable guy to speak to and I hope he does well up north. I often thought people were overly critical of him at times last season... he certainly wasn't our worst player. You also have to remember that the manager wanted him to play like a second full back rather than an attacking winger, and that isn't his game at all. I hear a lot of criticism that he always cut inside... well he did a lot, and scored a lot more goals than most wingers as a result. People who said he would end up in the conference were being ridiculos, a winger with pace who has a good goal scoring record at L1 level was always going to be in demand. He could be frustrating at times and is very much a confidence player... if he can get the fans onside early he can do well at Partick.

Scored 11 in a relegated team, then 5 last season when he didn't play nearly as much. Decent scoring record for a winger who was marmite.

Amoo had talent but lacked the courage to use it to his advantage. Good luck to him, he needs to be in a strong team that can afford to carry him.

He had a decent cross on him when he got in the right position at times as well, think he played the chip to Dempsey in the Northampton away match. 11 goals in League 1 from a winger is a pretty good record considering how sh*t we were and who's to say he wouldn't have managed more than that having dropped down a league if our team was a bit more balanced. People have a go at him for not tracking back but he's a winger ffs, he shouldn't be constantly expected to get back or else he'll not be able to do anything attack-wise. In terms of his actual job - attacking, not defending - he could score, cross and had plenty of pace, only problem is how much of a confidence player he is but if we're planning on being less sh*t then that shouldn't be an issue. I maintain that he'll be better than at least one of the wingers we sign this season.
