I was talking to a client in Cockermouth yesterday who told me it was going on there, people thieving stuff from businesses which had already been devastated by floods. She was telling me they were having to stay in their building because of this going on. I heard on the radio and again on the television news last night that this is also starting in Carlisle. People who would even contemplate doing anything like that are the lowest scum on the face of the earth. This, surely, is the time when everyone needs to be helping the victims out rather than going round making the misery worse.

I hope some of these monsters are caught, and properly dealt with.

Isolated incidents in Carlisle from reading on Social Media, but they're definitely out and about.

Seems a few folk have been organised patrolling to keep an eye out etc.

They were out in Carilsle all right.
Seems there's no limit to how low people will stoop, heard a story that there was lads with an inflatable collared en-route to empty houses, their torches were spotted and people went to investigate if it was just folk trying to salvage possessions.

Scum of the earth, if I had my way anyone caught looting, or on the way to loot like that would be held under the flood water till they stopped kicking and put down as an accidental "Storm Statistic".

Difficult to know what makes a person like that tick, there is little doubt in my mind that if some of these despicable scumbags are caught the police ought to be turning a blind eye while they are properly dealt with by the people they are trying to rob.

The police have said there's not been any issue. Not saying it hasn't or won't happen but often it's just rumours amplified on social media.

The scuffers not noticing it doesn't mean it isn't happening. Where there are easy pickings you'll get the usual scroats sniffing about.

Possibly amplified by Social Media true, certainly not on a grand scale, in fact a couple of scrotes & a dinghy was what I was told but none the less, it was happening and in the immediate aftermath too.

This is one thing that makes my blood boil. Carlisle is small where someone, knows someone etc, etc However, their appears to be a sub-culture little know to many who live around the Drug Trade, no Facebook page, no known address etc.

You usually see them on the front of the CN en-route to prison.

These Scumbags need to be caught by locals and learned the error of their ways... ..!!!!!

Seen a few things about businesses upping rates etc but also few things where a lack of common sense being used really. Must be a bloody nightmare for this to happen and have no family or friends to go to and be skint as well.

Forty lashes in the City centre would suffice with the victims getting five to ten each.

Id only advocate the victims getting ten lashes if it was the custodians. Think the people living down Warwick Road have suffered enough without lashing them as well.

They take that route here in Chester if you're caught pissing in the city centre streets. They all do a daytime clean of the city centre with bibs on that identify them.

Cumbrian Properties deserve everything they get for a trick like that...I'd certainly never consider using them to sell a property after that.

Also was told about the "Independent Insurance Assessors" that were going round on Monday, these people may be genuine but some neglect to tell you they may take up to 30% of your claim for acting on your behalf...
It's amazing how many grab the opportunity to take a mighty dump on people at the worst possible time!

Although I see it was a co owner so that may be hard!

I've bought/sold 3 houses through Cumbrian properties but I certainly won't use them in future, disgraceful fleecing people at this time then back tracking when it was made common knowledge, shame on them.

It was the dopey brother who made the decision by all accounts, how he's anywhere near the top of a business I'll never know.

As somebody who (family) has been directly effected by the flood i have to say the possitive side of people is much more in evidence than the negative.
I'm not saying that bad things are not happeninig but they are far outweighed by many brilliant people just being themselves.

Got to agree with this. For all the tossers filling your skip, leaving rubbish on your front, heartless loss adjusters etc, the spirit shines way above any of this.
Drove past the ground part of Warwick Road yesterday and there is no pavement left next to the road. Just full of furniture and discarded possessions.
Heart breaking for these people.
