TOPIC: Mark Ellis tonight

Absolutely superb. Winning penalty was a side show - he was brilliant tonight.
There weren't too many others I could give the same level of praise too. However, Sweeney ran his socks off all night and scored a vital goal. Zoko was awesome, despite being shite.

Yeovil have fighting spirit and I think will avoid the drop - so long as they can get over this.

It was a very tense affair. But back to the hero -- Mark Ellis so pleased he's a permanent signing.

I think Ellis is always superb. TBH I didn't think his performance tonight was any better than what he normally delivers. You always get great consistency from him, long throws, going up for set pieces and resolute defending. I agree it's fantastic that he has signed permanently. I also agree about Sweeney, ran his heart out and was unlucky with his shot against the underside of the bar. I hope he starts against Everton.

Can't comment on last night's performance other than what I heard on the radio, but Ellis has justified a permanent deal. He puts his head in anywhere, loves a tackle and has a great jump for a lad that isn't really that big. Developing a great partnership with Raynes at the back. Can't fault that back 4 selection, just hope Grainger can be back as soon as possible so to get that unit together consistently. A mention for Gillespie as well, apparently made some great saves last night, our defence looks solid and one of the things that has improved recently even if performances elsewhere have dropped.

Ellis has been our best player for the last month IMO. He's been promoted twice from this division but been released once he's played a few games in L1 for Crewe&Shrewsbury; so he may not be quite up to it at that level.

I know he Captained Crewe to Promotion but not sure at Shrewsbury. I have to say when I seen him step up for the last pen my first thought was 'Have we not got anyone who can strike a ball better?' but as KC alluded to in his interview on the OS he chose the players who wanted to take one.
