Just been loaned out from Yeovil to Wrexham. Think he might still struggle at that level

Has nobody ever thought of playing him at centre half. Always worth a try.

I always thought the lad had a chance, he's big and strong, and with some application and a bit of decent coaching he should have been a pretty solid lower league centre forward. He was never going to be the most skillful player, but he could have caused a lot of defenders a lot of problems, however he never really came on in the way he should have.

I still think he's got time, but he needs to really work hard at the things that suit his own style, and his build, he always needed to work on his heading, and his first touch, and it would appear he still does. The problem he has is that he's so big and strong, so he's going to get used as that type of player who is supposed to hold the ball up, bring others into play and win headers in the final third.

I heard Queens were interested in him but it fell through. Did OK at that level for Falkirk a couple of years ago.

I'd always thought that aspects of the game such as first touch and heading ability were a matter of natural talent. That's why it's difficult, if not impossible, for players like Beck and Rigg to improve in those aspects if they haven't got it to start with.

As above, probably Beck's best hope would be going back to the Scottish lower leagues.

Aye well, Wrexham's a couple of steps up from that sort of level. I just hope the lad applies himself and does well, I'm fairly sure he has it in himself to go a bit further.

He could definitely make a living (a rather meagre one maybe!) in Scotland.

I wouldn't say he was particularly strong either given his size as I've seen him bullied about too many times to mention. No first touch and weak in the air, Let's face it, he's just a big lump.

I'd be very surprised if he made a career at L2 or higher level.

He could definitely do with bulking up, I remember when Madine was first breaking into the team and was like bambi on ice, then he came back after a pre-season I think it was, looked like he'd spent the whole time in the gym and suddenly looked like a decent player.

I know Beck probably doesn't have that ability, but bulking up could be all he needs so he can actually out himself about a bit.

First and foremost the lad needs to be playing every week for someone ain't gonna get better playing in reserves or sat on bench

If he goes in conference and improves and gets goals he is playing in a position that one good contract could be very lucrative plenty make a damn good living in lower leagues

I don't agree that bulking is necessarily the answer, Crouch is hardly in line to win Mr Universe - he's had a decent career for a 'skinny' big man. Not saying Beck can be as good as that but there's more to being a footballer than being a big strong lad.
