Well if I was a young player who`d been playing league 1, say at Crewe for instance or league 2 say, Barnet or Crawley or even Accrington that famous old club , and I rocked up at CU for a chat with a view to signing, I`d think yeah this is a big club, purely on the evidence of seeing the stadium...........which everybody else thinks is cr*p apparently.
It is crap... And I can't believe people are seriously using Wigan and Bournemouth as serious examples... Well obviously it's much easier when you have a sugar daddy but it is a bit artificial... When the billionaire takes over we will see a big jump in attendances I'm sure...
My comparisons with these two were nothing to do with who was in charge. We haven't got anyone with wealth like that. All I meant was the way the fan base grew massively as they moved up the leagues. Wigan especially. It is a rugby town surrounded by other clubs and their home numbers went from 1500 to 12000 in a decade. That's a massive increase. People mocked them for low prem crowds but to increase your base by about 1000% just shows what can happen in a similar sized catchment area if the dream and ideas are there.
We have a pessimistic board and a divided fan base.
I used to resent Wigan but I must admit I really admire what they achieved. They now consider league one beneath them. They would have killed for that level in the 90s.
