Is Roberto Martinez trying to influence match officials before Sundays game, he's asked for a meeting with referees chief Mike Riley to discuss why several major decisions have gone against his team lately,no mention of the clear foul in the build-up to Evertons opening goal on Wednesday,expect Mason to give them every 50/50 decision on Sunday.

Absolutely embarrassing comments from Martinez. I recall when we played Wigan in the cup, lost 3-0. They crossed for one of their goals from half way up the grassy bank but you didn't see mcreery shanning himself crying about the referee

Was listening on radio the other night, sounded like it was the most incompetent decision ever to not see the ball had gone out.
Couldn't believe it when I later saw that it was only just out by a couple of inches and would have been a guess if the linesman had said it was.
Sign of a manager under pressure. I can't see him making it until the end of the season.

What was the name of the other Spanish bloke at Wigan? Seem to remember they always scored agianst us.

Martinez does my head in too. Because he is under achieving with what could be a very exciting team and because he seems to blame everyone else bar himself for each defeat. But not because he doesnt have a go at officials for not penalising his own team you mouldy crumpet.

Isidro Diaz always looked the best of the three to me. He was decent on champ manager as well!! Tricky winger. I guess Martinez had the understanding and tactical awareness as a holding midfielder which gave him more longevity.

Interesting to see it is Martinez who has gone on to make the most success of his move to England.

I wonder what happened to the other two!

Edit - A quick look on wiki shows both Diaz and Seba drifted back to Spanish lower league football.

There have been some awful decisions by officials recently - obviously the Everton on where the ball was clearly over the line; the goal at Anfield was miles offside yet given anyway; and Rooney was clearly offside last night for the opening goal yet it was given anyway. Spurs scored a goal last season, at a point when they had all 11 of their players in their own half, and it was disallowed for offside. Standards are through the floor.

However Martinez needs to look closer to home - he subbed his most creative player on Wednesday, and his subs made his team much worse. City's subs were both brave and timely, and won them the tie. Everton have won something like 11 out of 50 odd league games, and the Everton supporters I know are pretty sick of him - they reckon they started the season with their best squad since the 80s yet are failing miserably. Selling a bloke with a hat trick against the champions is a puzzling one too. Lose to us and Newcastle, and he might be gone.

I really wouldn't say Rooney was clearly offside last night like.
