In a lot of ways today. Baffled again by KC's selection and tactics. We're going to lose these games 99 times out of 100 so why not go hell for leather and at least have the chance of catching them on an off day, get the crowd in in it and at least go down fighting? Early goal killed off the atmosphere anyway and they had clearly scouted us well as they stopped us playing out the way we like to and exposed us to kicking out of Gillespies hands to the mismatch of Asamosh and Jagielka up front. Don't think we were ever in the game. They were completely professional and didn't really let us into the match and we never looked likely did we? Everything that Liverpool away was this wasn't.

I KNOW we're supposed to encourage the Johnny come lately's but bloody hell there's some muppets come along and it very hard listening to some of the shite that gets spouted by people that turn up once in a blue moon. The odd racist, the predictably awful ref, Cleverly acting like a tw@. Can't say I enjoyed it as much as I should have and in many ways will be glad to get back to trying to get out of the bottom half of the table next week and making sure we get something out of a season with a lot of promise by getting some consistency from a squad that really should have us up there.

Barkley was brilliant though wasn't he and he made a point of giving his shirt to the Carlisle bench when he came off - quality all round from him.

Think we'd have had a far better atmosphere if the game had been at 3 on saturday instead of half one on sunday i know the goal killed it but it was still pretty flat from the outset .
Glad its over tbh and looking forward to a push for promotion .

I fail to see what difference the time and day meant to the atmosphere.

Agree totally, I'm sure curles tactics were to frustrate Everton and the release jabo and gillihead.
We never look the same with asomoah starting.
Blown away in 15 minutes .
Think Grainger is going to be a miss.
Need to get back to pre flood form as soon as possible.
As for the Morons shouting abuse we don't need them, and when we are back to 4000 on Saturday won't be found at Brunton park

Nope, not like the ground was half full because it was a Tues night clashing with Champions League games. Other than an extra hour and a half in the pub for some I don't see what difference it would make.

I don't think being whipped up into virtual hysteria pre match then not coming out helped!

It was probably one of the best tannoy build ups to a game I have ever heard-then nothing whilst we waited for the two teams for what seemed an age.

Tell me about it! I had arranged for the photographers to give me a wave as the teams were coming out - and they did. However, no-one appeared - possibly because the TV held them back until the right time. Doesn't help me in the PA box - what to do? Play more music or say something or what? I felt it made us (and me in particular) sound very tinpot.

i enjoyed the build up and to be honest had a tear in my eye when the radio commentary stuff came on-especially the Derek Lacey stuff. We have come a long way from Dreams thank God.

The kids with the Flags was a nice touch too and seeing Jeff Thorpe brought back memories of Scunthorpe at half time.

Did you not think the safety announcement just as Jimmy Glass dashed up field spoilt the moment just a tad?

Yes it did-but I was explaining to my 10 year old why invading the pitch that day(twice)was acceptable. For those there that day,the guy on the tannoy played a big part by announcing that the other game had finished as a draw and we could still save ourselves.

I know I did. The safety announcement is done by Match Control, who are based in the Waterworks End, and we in the PA box have no control over it and have no idea when it is going to happen. At half time, it works well as I don't play anything until after the safety announcement but pre-match can be a bit hit & miss. Similarly the Golden Gamble draw starts when they are ready rather than at the end of a song. Simple things to sort out.

I don't think it affected the outcome though I remember England complaining about the faffing about at Murrayfield pre match-you get fired up in the dressing room and ready to eat meat, then hang around for the firework and bagpipe display for 20 mins

The game plan went out the window with the early goal. Everton had some really good players starting and Barkley was world class even so against a crap team but what a ball to Kone cross field in the second half.

I enjoyed watching some quality players playing with ease that you don't often get at brunton park.

And what a difference having people in cantering vans that know what they're doing, simple things.
