Except he's not really a puppet master. All the great puppet masters are able to make themselves appear invisible, appearing behind the stage. You might even believe for a second that there is nobody pulling the strings, and that the puppets have a life of their own. But Nixon is on the stage. Instead of puppets he's got transparent plastic gloves on, and he's dancing round like a lunatic. Everybody can see him. He's fooling nobody.

There was an occasion towards the back end of the season when his arse was really nipping though so he can be got at. Bloke will be clinging on by his fingernails to the very end.

Even if there was to be someone else taking over the running of the club you get the impression he'd weasel his way into staying at the club in some capacity or other.
