TOPIC: Curle and Davey at Ex Service Mens Club tonight

Anyone else going to this at 7pm? £5 with pie and peas included. Comedian on afterwards - wonder if its Nixon?! Money going to Flood Relief.

I know this isn't going to go down to well on here, but it was nice to hear Andrew Jenkins getting a very hardy round of applause from all 100 people or so, when Curle mentioned the fantastic work he had done for our club.
Just goes to show that not everybody thinks like some people who post on here.

I don't think any sane CUFC fan would ever try and deny the work/finance that AJ has poured into our beloved club over the last number of decades. Without his guidance/finance the club would probably have folded at some stage during the late 80's/early 90's. At heart he is a true CUFC fan and am sure will always remain so, I personally would never deny that he has always done what he feels is right to ensure the football club continues as a going concern. When the time comes for him to no longer have control of CUFC we should all as one salute him for his efforts, he has after all stood up to the plate and financed the club for years.
However the current feeling of antipathy towards him is perfectly justified by the way that he and his fellow BODs have behaved off the field over the last 18 months or so. The blatant lies and deceit cast an ever growing shadow over the his tenure and does nothing to improve his legacy as we approach the end of his reign in charge. It's a real shame because he is in danger of leaving only a foul taste in fans' mouths unless he changes the way they are currently running the club.

Jenkins has had to pour money into the club, because its been hemorrhaging it left, right and centre, under the indept three's misguidance. Its as though he shot the club in both kneecaps, and gave it some crutches, and folk say "If he didn't give the club them crutches, it wouldn't be able to walk, you know..."

Like a lot of other people I do think that things could/should have been done different, personally I don't think he deserves the stick he has had on here, something which Curle pointed out. (Shock horror Curle and Bluebry agree on something )

KC started by a brief resume of how he started out in football through to getting his England caps; then he asked for questions, for both himself and for Lee Dykes and Lee Fearn. Folk who asked questions were as diverse as Hughie Mac to myself.

Questions ranged from biggest achievement in football, to Grant Holt to Gary Dicker to CMW, to picking as consistent team to whether Leicester would win the Premiership.

There was then a break for pie and peas and the signed Everton and Carlisle shirts were auctioned for the Cumbria Flood Appeal.

After the break there was entertainment from comedian Tony Roscoe and then the raffle, the whole eving lasted until around 10pm, very enjoyable.

Oh dear Wukkie, there were no reds under beds. No one prompted Keith Curle, I don't think he would take kindly to that to be honest. What he actually said was that Andrew Jenkins was an absolute gentleman who loved Carlisle United. .He got a round of applause.. None of the current owners were at the do.

It's a good job i didn't go in the end.

I certainly wouldn't of clapped and probably would of walked out. Anywhere each to their own.

I dont doubt for one minute Jenkins loves Carlisle United but love is sometimes blind and he cant see hed now be better off passing the club on.
