I think that the "odious two", as perceived, are on a hiding to nothing here.
I don't see why employees at a football club are any different from any other. If you are a rising star in a company, getting noticed and a rival offers you more to work for them, you resign and move on. In many jobs if you see something better and apply for it, why would it be the board's fault if you were successful in your application and resigned?
I think some of Curle's comments are worthy. We have two rising stars who have been seen in that light by others. Suddenly (?) we do not seem to have difficulty in recruiting this Summer, including people from far and wide. If players see the club as a route to career progression, they will not see the area as a barrier.
The overall figure might not be to our liking, but we are speculating, but perhaps the longer term benefits of how players perceive the club might just be worth considering.
