Yet again undisclosed, even when they had the upper hand as they wanted to buy him.it should of been in the deal, you buy we disclose fee to our supporters

Why would we want other clubs knowing how much money we have to spend ? The majority of transfers nowadays are undisclosed for exactly that reason .

Just to put it in context. Dempsey sold for £300-350k. Wages Billy Paynter would have been paid over 2 years - £208k basic, probably pushing £225k + add-ons.

I don't care about the undisclosed fee, I care that underneath that is probably a sum of money which represents a fraction of what Dempsey is worth.

I would imagine this will be it for a fair few fans now, and who can blame them seeing as we've just flogged our only exciting player from last season. I just wish they could say if there was a sell-on clause or not as it would probably settle a lot of people if we were told there is one. Supposedly the release clause was that Dempsey could speak to other clubs about a move if anyone bid £300k, so could we then still try to negotiate other clauses into the contract?

This is what happens when a club is ran in the wrong way. The downward spiral continues.

If the billionaire story were true Utd wouldn't be trialling out of contract players and selling their prize asset. Dempsey will without a doubt be a £1m player by the end of the season. Bargain for Huddersfield.

The Lapping deal should be concluding about now...

Nothing unusual about a club having to sell a young prospect, weather it's run by muppets or not. In the past they have done good business selling players. Dempsey probably would only sign his last contract with us if it had the minimum release claus in it, knowing he would eventually get his move but keep everyone happy at same time.
I'd be very surprised if we don't get significant add ons and a percentage of a future move if indeed he turns out to be a top player.

But we didn't HAVE to sell him. There's a billionaire out there willing to pump millions into the club. Clubs like ours, about to get huge cash injections from wealthy foreign owners dont have to sell anyone.

Do they?

We did have to sell him as he had a buy out clause in his contract. Only way he could stay was if he chose to.

I'm just praying we have a sell on clause in the deal.

Can't believe people are saying he didn't want to leave! If that was the case he'd still be here and the release clause he insisted on for the last contract he signed would have been considerably higher.

I'd must like to know if there is anyone on here shocked the fee is undisclosed. I'd also be interested to know if anybody actually believes it is undisclosed in case some other club tries to increase a players value on us.

Surely nobody here is anywhere near that thick.

Has to be over 300k, we knocked back Barnsley earlier this week. Presuming they bid 300k and Huddersfield have come in higher.
This undisclosed Pap is doing the board no favours, most are thinking it's only 300k but if it is 450k and they disclosed that, they would come out with some credit for a change.

Maybe not the Dempsey transfer money, but don't forget there's a 6-figure fee from Potts compo that will be spent on the team:

Key issue
Have we got more as a consequence of last seasons new contract with release clause than we would got had it gone to a tribunal?
My guess is we would have got £500,000 plus 50% sell on at a tribunal. Think our glorious leaders have beaten that?

In the official statement on the OS there has not been one mention that I've seen pertaining that there is any add-ons to the deal which basically means a flat 300k was enough to take away the best prospect the club has had in years.

Tend to agree, take some money off Jenkins the loan then go back to the drawing board for investment, I bet Fred would be fuming as he was first in line for pay back before he wrote his loan off!

The big difference to a tribunal would be 1, u20 int and 2, a prem club doing the bidding, both of these things would markedly increase his tribunal value.

Since it seems we have done quite well in getting the płaying side put together for£0 I'd rather invest this moneyin given Andrew Jenkins his loan money back, Nixon his £1 back and getting the pair of them out of the club and allow Andrew Lapping and his investors to come in with a clean slate and balance sheet and build CUFC as a business.
Not sure it's possible and probably complicated but while we're at it can we looking at getting rid of CUFC holdings and just having Carlisle United Football Club with AL & Co havin x amount of shares and the Trust having x amount of shares.

By £1.3m?
U20 football not really recognised anyway..
I'm sure we would have got at least a third of Grimes with sell on at Tribunal and would have been confident in getting more.

Problem is cash flow.
After the Lapping deal was aborted then in my view to continue to fund the club it was either continue to borrow more money from Bank of Andrew Jenkins or sell Dempsey.
Also someone needs to sign off the end June 15 accounts on going concern basis..
In short this money will be needed to run club as is, not repay AJ. Especially given the extent of antipathy and mistrust between most of fan base and Club which will hit revenues.
Reiterates if needed the folly of turning down the Lapping £1.25m, all going into the Club.
Maybe if the Lapping deal is definitely off then AJ needs to follow Fred's lead and write off his loans? Suspect he will have to at some point as club is worth diddly squat as is....

Surely there must be a sell-on clause otherwise we would have just let his contract run out and ask a tribunal to include a sell-on, rather than give him a nice new contract with a 300k release clause and nothing else to benefit the club.

To put things into perspective,we have just sold our best asset for about the same has Roomey earns a week , I just hope we have very good sell on clauses. With Dempsey and Potts gone we have only Gilespie and maybe Brough left with any sort of value.Just can't stop thinking that we have missed something here , If we had the investment from Lapping we could have kept hold of our assets for a little longer .

I don't think that is entirely the case. Potts was going for certain anyway. I think Dempsey would most likely have gone too, I believe (from what I have heard locally) that he was willing to stay, but the wage increase and the opportunity to test himself 2 leagues higher up the league must have been a huge temptation. Even with the Lapping money (which was never to be blown on players anyway) we could not have hoped to keep him.

Anyway why would we, as a club, want to stand in the way of the development of the best player we've produced for nearly 20 years?
