Apologies if I'm misrepresenting people, but that looks like it's a "yes" from:

Lufbrablue
pacirv
Turnbull
Stamfordblue
and board admin people.

And a "no" from:

thesilentone
markredfox73
Mullen103
Mashie Niblick
Bumble
ExiledJock
Bluefox1963
Wukkie
CarlisleWhite
whytakemypostcode
griff
Alan
Mr Quint
182blue
Armo
deeksme

4 to 1, that's a fairly resounding "no" then isn't it?

The board admins have gone very quiet.

Are you going to listen to its members/users or are you going to ahead anyway and what's best for yourself.

If your there to represent the messageboarders then you need to put it to the members. Who knows it may just be a few noisy ones saying no but at least you'll get a decision. Going ahead and doing it makes you no different in my opinion to the current regime including the trust.

In an ideal world then I'd say yes good idea but we aren't in an ideal world at Carlisle United and it should be a resounding no.

Gone quiet? Nope, we do have times when we're not online you know! Personally, I'm just letting the Thread continue for a couple of days to see how the discussion runs. There's been some good points from both sides of the argument IMO.

When are we ever going to have an ideal world at a Football Club?!

Hello

The invite wasn't at the end of a grilling. It was a very relaxed chat about the purpose of the group and how it started & how useful it has been. I'd assumed this board would be coming along so invited Griff along too.

There are no topics that are banned, i simply ask for agenda items from the groups and for them to ask their members about things.

It's a relaxed meeting, lasting about an hour with the odd giggle or 2.

It's up to you whether your board is represented. Personally i think it'd be helpful, if nothing else than for the new messageboard custodians to see there's nothing cloak & dagger about it.

Best wishes
Claire

Claire you say the meetings have been useful - can you tell us any changes that have been made as a result of the meetings and how they've been beneficial to fans?

I'm not arsed if this board is represented on the board or not. I don't see the harm in trialing it for a bit, and if there's any whiff of censorship on here caused by it, just pull out. No harm done.
Arise, Sir Jimmy

I dont mind at all if this messageboard is represented at a fans group meeting. The problem i do have is why has it got anything to do with Phil King, Andy Hall & Amy Nixon from the Media Dept?. They arent a fans group so to me they shouldnt be there unless asked to go for a specific reason. Is it a supporters meeting or is it a club one?.

From what I understand (From this weeks meeting, can't comment on actual CUSG ones), the Club are represented so they can offer reasons, problems, feedback from various topics brought up.

Think it's usually either Phil or Nigel, and Andy/Amy are there from a Media angle.

Personally, would say Nigel as the infamous 'Supporters Liason' role should be the preferred attendee.

Given that CUSG is in its first season, it's probably nowhere near the perfect format, but with a bit of tweaking it could be a good platform.

These are the notes from the meetings held so far:

I take it he didnt say what was gonna happen once they had been refurbished?

Ground refurbishments

The Sunset Suite and Sporting Inn drawings were shared. Phil King is project lead, no dates have been set for when this work will start. The Sunset Suite will be renamed – more details to follow.

With all due respect, why are the Supporters even asked for their input on such trivial matters?

My point being, I work for a Company that is run by a CEO and a Board of Directors. They drive the business through their know how and business acumen, they don't need the staff to tell them when the toilets need refurbished or what type of coffee machine they prefer. They know the answers because they have a grasp of the business and they come up with the ideas that move it forward. If they fail then they are out, it really is that simple.

If CUFC need to sit lots of people in a room to be told that the bars need improved or that flags would create a better atmosphere, then we are in serious trouble.

I say yes, on the basis that any increased say the fans have, even on what may seem trivial matters, can only be a good thing.

I really don't see the need for more talking in a group.

We have a fans rep, who can bring up any issues on the day to day stuff.

We have a fans Liaison Officer who can be found on home match days who can bring up any issues.

This is a public forum and any topic that causes a real stir is seen by folk at the club.

There seems to be a hell of a lot of sitting round tables and talking and very little action.

If folk want answers to questions , surely the quickest way is to go and ask them, not to put them on the message board for the reps to take to a meeting, for then Claire or Nigel to take to the club and get an answer. Then write it up and tell us the outcome in the next set of minutes.

Personally I would love to see a strong supporters club working for the benefit of the club in a variety of ways (whoever the owners happened to be).

I cannot see for the life of me how having rep from all these different cliques, some of whom openly have said they despise others, is going to turn into a sweetness and light amalgamated group who work for the good of all.

Well put and i agree 100%

I can remember at the old fans groups from a few season back, that failed after one meeting each season, saying the same thing that if the club don't know these things there is big trouble.

The worry reading the meeting notes for me is the meeting only lasts an hour and with the number of people there it isn't much time at all. It all seems like propaganda to me because none of the items stated in the 1st meetings have happened, we can blame the floods all we want but they didn't happen before and haven't happened afterwards. Not 1 of the points listed for disabled supporters has happened.

I'm not totally against the meetings, but theres far too many people at them for such a small space of time. I also agree with others and don't understand why the club itself are represented at these, surely the fans rep or someone else can report back to them.

I'm against though a messageboard representative as if theres any issues it should go via the fans rep. A messageboard should be independent really unless its an official club one otherwise your always going to be accused of bias and conspiracy theories.

What to understand the fundamentals of the business?

CUFC arent asking the fans to review the product, they are asking them how to do things that should driven by the people at the top.

That's just it though isn't it? Every time the club attempt to get fans feedback they are met with the usual suspects telling them how to run the club or, worse, to just piss off.

For what it's worth, my take on it is the admin team should go if they want to. I see no threat whatsoever to this boards independence by attending. Don't go thinking you need to so that I feel represented, as has been mentioned, I am represented elsewhere in this meeting. Personally, if I had an issue I'd probably tweet Andy.

Meetings about meetings its worse than the bloody Council.

And let's face it what's the point of putting forward the views of the messageboard to Jenkins, Nixon & Pattinson who have absolutely no interest in what the fans have to say in the slightest. They have shown complete contempt for the supporters on a regular basis for years.

As for all these supporters groups I preferred the auld days. There was Colin Barton and that was it.

Some things might be better left until there are dates and details :)

There is a saying, ' You look but don't see ' and I think it fits the attitude at the Club.

The entry to the bar area from the ww end of the Paddock is about as inviting as a public bog. Or am I the only one who's moved on from the 1970's (unlike our Union Brothers) :-)

Big fat no from me too.

Thin edge of the wedge.

Blessed are the power seekers.

Can I set up a West Bridgford Branch of the anti Cardi club?

Only if i can join the Carlisle branch of the London supporters club - its never ending?

No email back yet from the club on what the criteria is to join this group or whether the cardy club has an invitation ;)

And how many forms of feedback do they need exactly? There are more quango's and sub sections than the average local council.

Most people on here wouldnt have the first idea of running a business, but they know shit service when they see it, it's just a shame that the powers that be at the Club need 10 Supporters Groups to point out the fundamentals to them, if it were me I'd be embarrassed. But the crux of the problem is that they don't give a flying one what the customer thinks, if they did then most of the stuff on the agenda would have been sorted long ago, without the need to involve anybody.

If you owned your own corner shop and a dog shit on the doorstep, you wouldnt hold a meeting with your customers to see how best to get rid of it.

No. Utter f*cking waste of time designed to create the illusion of fan engagement. All these meetings and committees are quite frankly embarrassing. It sounds like the f*cking WI at times.

The combination of all groups has a voice, the fragmentation is called ' Divide and Conquer ' (Get Dancingbear as shop steward)

Deal with the main issues within the various factions first, you all know what they are.

Have you told them where to shove their invitation yet? Everything has gone swimmingly well for the owners since they exploited Lapping for his expertise, shafted him then invented a billionaire. Status quo is nicely resumed, and the minion fans are quiet. Creating this nicey nicey feeling of fan participation with such arrangements and having a fans rep etc works a treat for the owners. So screw them all, and tell them where to stick their invitation - straight back to the firmly closed, you're not welcome, we know best, don't ask questions, lie riddled rooms at the top of BP.

We've not had a chance to all be online for an hour or so to discuss due to work, Hols, other business. As much as we try to be online, it's not always possible...

Think folk also haven't grasped that the Board was already in CUSG under Deano!

There's been some excellent points raised by both sides of the argument, both on here and via email, and in brief chats amongst the Mods too. As soon as we get to all talk (Should be later this week), we'll put out any decision.

I think the problem you have Dan is whoever typed the original post said youd be joining unless there was a groundswell of opinion on here not to join. Personally i think you should join but its hard to argue that there hasnt been a groundswell on here not to.

Exactly, agree

Personally, I mentioned on here, I wasn't overly impressed that Mike went to the meeting representing the messageboard, the trust fine but not the messageboard.

But as you say the original post did mention of they was a strong no then it would be no. The majority on here is no but doesn't speak for all. Again I've mentioned before the easiest thing is a quick vote you are representing the members after all

I personally don't think there is much harm in joining. CUSG is a fairly loose affiliation of people whose only common interest is in supporting Carlisle United. I don't see how the independence of this board would be threatened. The mods seem sufficiently clued up not to be pressurised into introducing any form of censorship plus it's an opportunity to communicate views to the club which our fan rep may not wish to.

And if we are not already members of one of the other participating groups we can wear CUSG pin badges.

Surely, having the fan's messageboards represented would weaken the position of the Fan's Representative.

Are we gonna get a referendum or not? It's like the coalition government with CCU as Cameron merseyblue as Clegue Mouldy as Osbourne and Mullen as Jacob Rees-Mogg ;).
