That's the kind of line up England should be starting with in the WC apart from maybe Barkley in for Lallana. A bit of youth for a change instead of Rooney and co.

Delli Alli is impressing me so far ..turning into a fine young player and looks comfortable on the big stage.

It's a decent performance so far, but let's not get carried away, Germany are not out of first gear, they are playing at training match pace. And we got away with a poor offside decision which should have had Germany 1-0 up.

Henderson and Lallana are average PL players, they should be nowhere near an England side...

Who's getting carried away?
Keeper looked a bit dodgy all game, Lallana from the Hallam Hope finishing school.
Some cynical fouls from the Germans spoiling a couple of promising attacks.
The most disappointing aspect of that half for me was that England played some nice stuff but lacked end product.
Considering how terrible England have been the last 3 or 4 tournaments though, there is hope that we could do a bit better this summer.
As the late Paul Daniels would say though, not a lot.

Henderson is the most over rated player around at the moment. Every time I see him play he disappears.

As you say CCU, he's average. You look at his attributes and it's all bang average.

Not totally convinced by Kane at the very top level. I'll be interested to see how he does in the champions league next season against top club opposition.

Hopefully Vardy gets a start on Tuesday. His pace and the runs he makes could cause anyone problems.

That's about the 5th time in a row I've watched Germany play and thought they've been utterly shit.

I wouldn't rule them out because they tend to save their form for tournaments, but my money won't be going on them.

Think I'm going to back Spain at 11/2 to defend their title.

The World Cup was a disaster, but they've sorted a few issues out now. They have Morata, Alcacer and even Aduriz probably ahead of Costa. They still have the best midfield, and Pique is probably the best centre back in Europe at the moment, and if they finally decide to put De Gea as the number 1, they have a world class goalkeeper.

Thats probably the best ive seen.from.england in a long time.. real vibrancy.. both full backs cavalier as well...makes it interesting now and its given us mass optimism now for the months ahead..

Incredible to think that just 2 years ago Deli Alli was getting smashed 3-0 at Brunton Park by one of the shittest Carlisle teams in recent years with Greg Fleming in goal.

Decent game that, though would expect more from Germany in a competitive game.

Lots of pluses tonight for England:
Alli - This boy is class.
Kane/Vardy - In form and scoring.
Dier - Serious potential with this lad.
Rose - Strong claim for the LB spot.

Minuses:
Liverpool players - Henderson/Lallana not good enough. Clyne average.
Butland - Poor game management with injury/goal.
Centre Backs - Still don't know our best pairing!

Time for England to stop playing 1 up front and wishy-washy wide players like Sterling, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain. Most modern defences are used to facing 1 striker. Let's unleash Kane and Vardy, with their work rates they'll give most defences a hard game.

Our best midfielders - Barkley, Alli, Wilshere - come through the centre. Width can come from the FB's pushing on, and the DM drops in to help defence cover these runs. Whilst I think Dier is going to be a great DM, this Summer may be just too early, plus we need experience around the young heads. Carrick ideal IMO.

Centre Back pairing is a worry. Just over 2 months to go and we don't know our best pairing! Could say the same about Full Back too, we've plenty options but no regulars at present! LB we have Rose, Bertrand, Shaw & Baines. RB we have Walker and Clyne. We need the defence settled and quickly!

I'd go with the following team this summer...

Subs featuring likes of Rooney, Welbeck, Dier, Drinkwater, Milner, Cahill - Plenty experience to turn to!

Let's use the in form younger players and have a go Roy, instead of your usual bores...

I think most fans would think we should give these young, in form players a chance.

What's the point in going with the tried and trusted when we lost every game in the last world cup.

Terry's far too slow nowadays and has been a serial loser in big tournaments in the past. Better to play Smalling and Stones.

Thought we were excellent pretty much all over the pitch last night. Only things I would change from the starting line up would be Hart in for Butland, Jagielka in for Cahill and Vardy in for Welbeck.

The reason we looked so good last night was our ball turnover and pressing were excellent, and this started with Kane, Lallana and Welbeck. Lallana's feet are excellent and helped us move out of tricky positions on the wing, where the opposition would normally have won the ball and been on the break ie if Sterling had been playing.

I'm not Hendersons biggest fan but thought he too was excellent last night, not the best on the ball but his energy, closing down and interceptions helped us win the game.

Great team performance by England, some great new young blood, for me Rose was outstanding.

Let's see who picks the Euro's team, Hodgson or Sky TV....

Watching sky this morning and one of the press muppets was still going on about how we needed Rooney. Sorry his days has been and gone ditch the losers and try the youth after all they can't do any worse than the so called golden generation

Great performance ,Walker is likely our first choice RB ,that's five from Spurs and all young lads.What a turn around for Spurs and England.

Couldn't agree more, Carrick is a great player, but it's time to move over. Play the same 11 as last night again, and they'll be even better. I don't think Hodgson will get the chance, the money will dictate who plays in the end.

Carrick is the Gary Dicker of the England scene, he can read the game and pick a pass, but doesn't do enough in games. I have seen him have some simply dreadful games for England.
I think the starting XI, depends upon who's fit and on form, it's nice to think there are a few choices.
Over recent years the supposed star players have looked knackered, or have been injured in the build up to tournaments (Rooney, Gerrard etc), so my big ask is that we don't take any half-fit players or those who are out of form.
