TOPIC: Fans Rep Role

Claire's tenure is due to come to an end at the end of June. I personally am not sure what the role has brought to the party and what has been achieved? There are numerous groups now meeting up with a representative of the 1921 board, and the Holding's Board are untouchable for answers to the important questions that need answering. Thanks Claire, you seem passionate for the club, however time to end this charade, and for the hi-vis waistcoat to be consigned to the bin for good.

That was a quick year!

Only way for this to work would be for the fans to define the role (clue is in th title), not the club.
Suggest not the Trust either, as they already have such a position, and a fair proportion of fans have big issues with them anyway.
The role has been set up to fail by the club, and Clare has gone/been native all the way through.
Otherwise, bin it off as Mr Postcode says.

At present we have

Fans Rep
Fans Liaison Officer
CUOSC
CUSG

as ways of getting in contact with the club, posing our questions to and gaining feedback from. Yet we still get very little response to our queries and even less response from the men in charge at BP. I think it would be a good idea if all the above were scrapped and we started again with one body elected by the fans with no involvement from the club. We might start to get somewhere then.

Major sticking point would be that CUOSC own a percentage of the Club so can't just be 'scrapped'...

After today's N and S article I take it all back and apologise. Give her the job for life!

I might be slightly biased about the role but I think one of the purposes is as a lead for fans. Yes we have the CUOSC chairman on 1921 board but that position is to represent their members. I've seen how having an independent person is more beneficial.

The CUSG group is really helpful for the FR role as it means a lot more people are feeding back issues, it's been helpful having things said there and at BM. Again, someone independent is beneficial here. There are a lot of different groups and while i can't see a time where we will just have 1 group i think somewhere where each group has an equal voice is a good thing.

The first term for the FR was until 30th June, advertised at the application phase. I don't know yet when it'll be readvertised. I hope people will apply.

I agree with it being fans who define the role. I think / hope I've done some of what was needed - a voice, visibility, someone who listens. It's not been easy ... far from it but i believe in the role. This is just the start of it. I've had moments where i've thought "f**k it!" but then I've had times where i've really enjoyed it and flirt with the idea of applying again...mainly so people can get rid of me in a democratic way. I don't know what I'll do yet.
