Sorry - I'm sure there's a thread somewhere else...anyway:

Hart*
Forster
Never seen Heaton play but if he can catch a cross he's automatically ahead of Foster.

Walker
Clyne*
Bertrand*
Rose
Jagielka*
Smalling*
Stones

Henderson*
Wilshere
Alli*
Dier*
Barkley
Drinkwater
Lallana*
Milner

Vardy*
Kane*
Rooney
Sturridge
Walcott

This is presuming Shaw and Butland will definitely be out injured, and the ones I've picked will be fit.

Ruddy, Flanagan, Baines, Cahill, Shelvey, Delph and Sterling on stand-by.

Hart *
Butland
Forster

Walker
Clyne*
Bertrand
Rose*
Cahill*
Smalling*
Stones

Henderson*
Drinkwater
Milner
Alli*
Barkley*
Sterling
Noble
Dier*

Vardy*
Kane*
Rooney
Sturridge
Welbeck

Don't rate Lallana at all. Think Sterling has to go despite having a disappointing season. Welbeck gets the nod over Walcott due to his good record under Hodgson. We all know Rooney will also go, but how does he get into the starting eleven? Kane and Vardy have to start up top together. Perhaps in behind the striker but I'd prefer to see Barkley there.

I wouldn't put Henderson on the plane never mind in the starting 11.

Personally would rather play Rooney in midfield than Henderson shouldn't , can't stand him, same with lallana who struggles to get into a very average Liverpool team, welbeck over Walcott ,

GK: Hart*, Foster, Forster.

RB: Walker*, Clyne.

LB: Rose*, Bertrand.

CB: Smalling*, Stones*, Cahill, Shawcross

MID: Wilshere*, Alli*, Carrick*, Dier, Drinkwater, Barkley*, Milner, Lingard.

STR: Rooney, Vardy*, Kane*, Welbeck.

442 Diamond using *'s.

(Based on Butland is out, and Shaw likely not back in time. Others who are currently injured are expected to be back in time...)

Are you trying to spoil my Wednesday Dan with your midfield selections,Wilshere is another Arsenal myth,Carricks forward pass percentage must be the lowest in history and as for lingard like I said on other thread, sometimes Dan you are a stupid boy

The big worry for me is the defence, Cahill is a liability as was shown against Germany, and Italy and Uruguay in the World Cup.

Stones needs to learn to defend first before thinking he is Franz Beckabaur.

Could do a lot worse than trying Dier alongside Smalling.

Cahill bit ropey but he has played most games, wouldn't want to throw a rarely used player in at CB, need a bit of experience in there.

Henderson/Milner players of very limited talent but good squad players.

Either Sturridge or Walcott gets the last place, went for Sturridge as I think he can be thrown on when we need a goal against Spain in semis(!).

Think he will be forced to be a bit bold in his tactics as we have some good attacking options, but not many you would rely on to grind out a result.

I think you need a Henderson/Milner type in the squad as there will be games where they have a role to play. Maybe just one of them though to free up a place for a more attack minded midfielder such as Sterling, Barkley or Oxlade Chamberlain.

Lallana wouldn't make my squad as I think Alli, Sterling and Wellbeck would be ahead of him in my squad.

I'm quite surprised Aaron Creswell hasn't had a look in at left back. Had a really good season at West Ham and has looked good on the occasions I've seen him on TV. I don't know much about Tom Heaton but really surprised at the lack of depth in English goal keeping right now.

Left-Back is a proper competition...

Shaw, Rose, Bertrand, Baines - Then there's the likes of Cresswell and Daniels from Bournemouth who've had excellent seasons.

A couple of years ago Gibbs of Arsenal had a chance to nail the LB spot, can't get a start in the Premier League now!

RB is similar - Walker and Clyne are the obvious ones, but Flanagan won't be far behind with a pre-season behind him; could do with Trippier being at a different club really!
Centre half is poor though. Thankfully Phil Jones seems to well out of the picture now.

Squad for the last World Cup:

Hart
Forster
Foster

Baines
Shaw
Johnson
Jones
Smalling
Cahill
Jagielka

Gerrard
Lampard
Oxlade-Chamberlain
Wilshere
Sterling
Lallana
Henderson
Milner
Barkley

Rooney
Welbeck
Sturridge
Lambert

More goals, pace and youth in the squad this time out; fullbacks more likely to be getting up and down; a more energetic midfield. Keepers and centre backs similar. Overall, we're better equipped this time out, but still inconsistent. In 90 and 96 we had players who could win in an ugly way; this time we seem to have a team that will win playing good football, or lose due to fragility at the back.

The only way Lambert is going to France is on a summer vacation.
