Why is Atkinson not getting a game ,even in front of the back four he'd be more effective than Kennedy at the moment or Comley who is playing back and sideways more and more. ..........why have you told them to play like continentals ,tapping about at the back ,which looks stupid , is dangerous and loses us momentum , we are div 4. Possession needs to be concentrated up field......... Why are strikers still not moving into spaces and trying to shake off their marker. Lastly ,why are our corners so rubbish with 2 players constantly playing some kind of weird setup that doesn't work .

Playing from the back is not intended to be risky showboating. It's designed to get the other team to come out and press you, then with a quick ball into midfield we are behind their defensive midfielder and away. This was exactly how we scored at Liverpool. Granted it doesn't always work but I would rather pay to watch that than hoofing it from back to front.

Agree about the strikers. We look predictable with 2 target men playing together, particularly when this league always has teams with 2 meat head centre halves. I would like to see us play the Spurs way with a 4-2-3-1 who have Kane as the lone striker but with. No 10 in Ali with pace either side of him. Think Wyke could play the Kane Role with the right people around him. As this and many seasons before it has proven, we need more protection in front of the back 4 particularly on our big pitch so 2 deep lying midfielders who can come out with the ball and get moves going would be a great shape in my opinion.

Just a heads up MRF cant comprehend a formation that doesnt have 2 strikers in it so dont be suprised if he calls it negative 4-5-1 shite.

We don't play from the back though do we. There are three or four passes between the defence then someone humps it 50 yards down the park.

Then if the opposition win it we're playing everyone ten yards deeper onside.

Yep, seen that against Hartlepool but against Bristol Rovers we were finding a central midfielder free from the back who was then finding Stacey and Gillihead.

If we can get someone in midfield free it works, if not it's as you say - lumped forward to come straight back.

Ask why he let Dicker go when he was our best midfielder and re sign Balanta .... utter fuckwittery in my view.
Some of you may have a go a CCU for not being a fan of curle but i think he has a point to back this up...Curle hasnt delivered the goods since the start if the year when the chance was there...... I am not saying get rid but can he really move the club any further forward...are his hands tied to but is he gagged..(now he has his contract)...

I would be open to it if we had 3 interchanging vibrant players closely supporting a lone striker ....not yards away leaving a man up front isolated

Question I would ask the club is why, after a season and a half hasn't there been a forum in Carlisle so fans can ask questions of Keith Curle.

I have asked the questions more than once. CUOSC are going to do it, the supporters club are going to do it. the floods got in the way, so we still haven't had a forum in Carlisle organised by the club or fans groups.

The ex servicemens organised one, it was a good evening and KC didn't shirk any questions but for some reason the club doesn't seem to want the fans asking questions about anything (unless it's in a group, that has to answer to a rep, who has to answer to a board, who may provide a non committal answer next season).

I'd ask Curle why didn't he reinforce his squad in January? Was it due to operating capital/transfer funds being ring-fenced for flood repairs until they got insurance pay out? Saying that, bringing in new lads in the midst of the turmoil of being a travelling football team would of made it hard for them to gel. That was the time to reinforce the squad though as I feel our strikers especially, (Asamoah and Jabo) started to burn out, they ain't spring chickens and we really would of benefited from a striker/forward and a left winger.

The PR set up at this club is a joke. It is more of a secret society than a football club. Fair enough we shouldn't be privy to everything that goes on at the club but why haven't they been honest about the billionaire? Why can't they answer perfectly reasonable questions?

What haven't we seen Bry? For me there's been improvement although it has tailed off a bit. I thought we'd just about make the playoffs this season and maybe if the floods didn't come we'd be in them. We could of course be exactly where we are. Next season once other players like Troy are off the books Curle has to deliver. I don't love him or hate him tbh same with the vast majority of the squad if they perform I'm happy with them if they don't get rid.

It has worked in about 2 or 3 games this season... the reality is that we don't even look for the man in midfield most games... we just hit 5 or 6 risky square balls across defence until one of them thumps it 50 yards up field. That is just giving the illusion that you are trying to pass it out from the back, when in reality you are playing ineffective long ball football as you are just giving the opposition time to regroup and mark up before the ball comes down from orbit. If you are going to play from the back you have to at least do so with a purpose... you have to play defenders who can pass and you have to stop passing for the sake of passing.

Passing for the sake of passing is still better than hoofing it downfield straight away so that the opposition can have the ball.

Our fans get frustrated when the opposition team have the ball at the back, trying to offer something different than being a stereotypical bunch of League 2 cloggers. When we do it, they think every ball is risky and there's no purpose to it.

At the moment, the only alternative to playing the ball out from the back is booting it straight upfield. I'm sick to death of watching that rubbish, so at least this is some sort of improvement. It isn't flawless, but it is absolutely better than what we've watched for the past 5 years.
Arise, Sir Jimmy

Well Dancing my old mate, where do you want me to start?
The Paynter/Dicker episode from last season.
The constant swapping and changing where we clearly don't have enough quality personnel to carry it off.
The constant change in tactics where player don't seem to know their heads from their arses.
The excuses: the floods, considering they do all the training at Creighton (which wasn't flooded) is hardly an excuse!!
Only this week he said in the paper that the pressure was getting to the players, is he bloody kidding? pressure is on the teams above and other teams are snapping at their heels.
Not saying we haven't done badly this season, just saying that we could have done a lot better, especially with the players he has.
The problem I have is, he reminds me far to much to Kav, consistently meddling, and you already know the word I just love 'CONSITENCY', I'm afraid I never see any of that.
Anyway lets hope that somehow we can scrape into the play-offs, and if not, then maybe he already knows how hes going to play it next season, I wont hold my breath.

You cant love it that much if you cant spell it right ;). TBH i dont think we could have done that much better with the players we have. Could possibly be in 7th, i dont think were a top 6 squad. Hopefully next season if he gets the right players we will be. There wont be any excuses then.

Instead of blaming the defenders for hoofing the ball up after passing the ball about at the back, you could maybe blame the midfielders for not creating space for them to receive the ball.

Just surprises me so much that so many people haven't seen through Curle.

What did I spell wrong??
Personally I think we could have done better.
Oh and 'i' is a capitol 'I' and 'dont' is spelt 'don't' , just saying like eh!!

Try the word you put in CAPITALS ;)

I would ask him after performing a firefighting job last season in keeping a dire team up and then turning us into a comfortably high mid table team this year what changes in personnel and philosophies/playing style he intends to make in his make or break season next year ....and if he understands that play offs is the very minimum requirement next year?

Just a heads up MRF cant comprehend a formation that doesnt have 2 strikers in it so dont be suprised if he calls it negative 4-5-1 shite.

I have to admit as soon as he mentioned 4-2-3-1 I stopped reading his post.

It's the fourth division FFS, why play one striker and shit yersell.

The last two Home games before Mansfield we had Stacey&Kennedy; making some good runs forward but no one with their head up when in possession of the ball to pick them out. Needless to say Stacey was dropped the next game.

Yep, seen that against Hartlepool but against Bristol Rovers we were finding a central midfielder free from the back who was then finding Stacey and Gillihead.

If we can get someone in midfield free it works, if not it's as you say - lumped forward to come straight back.

Instead of blaming the defenders for hoofing the ball up after passing the ball about at the back, you could maybe blame the midfielders for not creating space for them to receive the ball.
A valid point. I think it's a bit of both. It's noticeable that we have struggled more to find midfielders in space since Dicker left. We suffer from a lack of movement and available passing options which can make the person on the ball look terrible... but to be fair Raynes and Ellis are terrible passers regardless.

Just go 3-5-2 for the last few games and go for it..there is sod all to lose.. i would rather see us getting beat being cavalier than a turgid game losing by the odd goal.

I'm 100% in agreement... I want to see us passing from the back... but that isn't what we are doing.... we have the worst of both world's.... we are playing some aimless sideways balls and not even looking to play forward through midfield and then we are hoofing it anyway. That is a nothing tactic as it just slows our attacks and allows the opposition to get back into position. I want to see us cut out the pointless passing and attempt to get it into feet in midfield at every opportunity. Bristol Rovers was an example of when we genuinely tried to pass the ball constructively.... we don't seem to try most games though.
