TOPIC: The FA cup not dead...

Last nights game was an excellent advertisement for the FA cup from both sides.....

No interest in the F A cup anymore,sold its soul years ago playing the semi's at Wembley.

Interesting the 7pm KO didn't hear many complaints?

Always wondered why we're so regimental with our KO times...

I watched about half an hour of that shit and then switched over for the champions league. Watched a bit of both CL games.

I think the fa cup is alive and well as is the league cup too its only the greedy paymasters who dont give a shit about it true supporters still love it and always will.

Loved both our cup runs this season and never once thought it was dead .

This Europa league match at Anfield has been pretty entertaining so far.

Saturday 3pm football arose in post industrial times when changing working conditions and the early closing movement gave workers a Saturday half day. It led to the rise in spectatorism as factory workers would spend their half day supporting their team.

A tradition that is still more or less intact.

During the depths of winter 3pm KO's only became the norm when floodlights were introduced.

Writer arguing against 3 o clock Saturday kick offs because they screw with his weekend drinking habits - comes across as a bit of a nob to be honest, but the comments section is quite interesting. A lot of people pointing out that anything other than that time makes the life of the away supporter very difficult indeed.

Actually, switching our London away kick-offs to say a 2pm start would be ideal for us - at the moment, there's often only one train you can get back to Carlisle which is 1830 - last season we had a mad dash to get back for it after AFC Wimbledon and only just made it.
