From what I hear none of the Under 18s have been offered professional terms.

One has been asked to stay longer so they can make a decision.

When they ask them to stay on a little bit longer, it's usually someone who has had a bad injury that has kept them out for a lot of the season.

From the name I've been told I'd be surprised if that was the case here as I think he has played nearly every game as well as a few of those bounce games.

Like I said on another thread, The youth set up is a joke, not the lads fault, but from what I hear, Curles not interested in youth team

Matty Douglas was on the bench a couple of times early last season under Kavanagh.

Let's face facts, except for when things looked desperate and we chucked that group in a few years back and ended up with Gillespie, Potts, Symington and Beck we really haven't consistently produced much of note.

Dempsey was the exception and to be fair he was always destined to make it. From an early age it was well known that if he chose football over rugby he'd be a very good player.

Having watched them a few times, can't say Im surprised. I can think of a couple of 17 year olds playing local football that are better than some of them. Grant Holts nephew looked a useful defender though.

He's only a first year isn't he?

Aaron Bradbury is the one they've asked to stay longer.

Matty has been released.
Fresh from an op that fixed an injury which had been hindering him.
He wasn't given the time to get going again after the op.
It's a harsh world.

Always thought Douglas looked competent enough when watching Cumberland cup and youth games. Has a nice presence about him and can play a killer ball too
all views my own

I would question whether Moore had done a decent job as youth coach. Kinder achieved much more. I'm fairly sure that KC will find a decent replacement.

I was told last year Moore only got the job for one reason

And that was that hed previously got Bury thru the accreditation process and we had nobody at the club who had a clue how to do that so someone with those skills was more important at the time than someone who was actually any good at running a youth coaching operation.

His move to Preston seems a strange one since he left Bury under a bit of a cloud and hasnt exactly been a massive success with us.

Not sure how accurate it is but I heard that Moore and Curle don't get on. Either they played/worked together before and Moore left the club because of Curle and he was gutted when he was appointed manager. Mind you, apparently an awful lot of people don't get on with Curle.

The way massive clubs horde players now makes it almost impossible to produce your own with any consistency. Most clubs at our level are better served looking to sign players who are released from the big academies who will probably be more talented - let's face it, the only reason the current crop are with us is because no one higher up was willing to take them off us when they were 10.

Yes we would be better investing in a development squad picking up players released by prem and champ clubs at 18 putting them on 200 quid a week and entering a high level U21 League from next season i understand these players can have dual registration where they could be loaned to non league clubs and play and train daytimes midweek for the owning club and train/play for the loan club in the evenings and at weekends.

It's always a shame to see local lads not quite make the cut but looking at their results this year, it was probably to be expected.

Only 8 wins all season(I think?) and even one of those was against Unisun's Saturday team.

I'm no massive follower of the youth team by any means but the feeling I get is that since Kinder left it has gone downhill massively.

There's a ball boy who is often in front of the Paddock. I've seen him play a few times but this will be a few years back now, and he looked head/shoulders above the rest of his age group at the time. Haven't seen him play for a few years, so haven't a clue about his development. He'd be about U-14 level now I would say...not the same lad (Joe?) is it?

"I'm no massive follower of the youth team by any means but the feeling I get is that since Kinder left it has gone downhill massively."

Kinder should have been brought back in as Director of Football and given a place on the board of directors and given responsibility for everything football related other than picking the first team. When Kavanagh was sacked it was only his association with MacDonald at the time and Storeys intervention that stopped that happening.

There is now possibly an opportunity due to the situation at BBurn to get him back again we shouldnt miss it for a second time.
