What we are looking at, at our level and Barrow's level is players on the very fringes of professional football.
You do look at certain players and think they have been very lucky to have a good number of years as a professional (one obvious example springs to mind at Carlisle!).
I like the idea of seeing local players do well and make a career, hence I'd rather see Steven Rigg given a chance than we loan a young Championship player in, but there seems no patience for that sort of thing and it's not a charity, after all, so that's the way it goes.

Might be somthing to do with Barrows training base moving to Manchester next season if hes the only player from the Carlisle area long way to drive for a couple of hours training 3 times a week.

Wonder what happens when the sign players from the other end of the country on loan Do they stay where they are and commute ? Move to the Manchester area ? Move to Barrow ?

I find it strange that they can call themselves full time when apart from games all they have to put in is 6 hrs a week be a good opportunity for any self employed semi pros based in the Lancashire area.

i can tell you for certain Barrows players earn well in excess of £250 a week.

And yes i.ve heard the story about the championship player too.

They are certainly throwing money at it for next season but they are apparently with a lot of players making the most of break contracts.

But i was told they offered the lad who got injured last week more than he was on at Tranmere

Met him at sponsors do when he was man of the match once and seemed like a nice fella.

I know someone who worked at a school he went to with the community work that the players do and the kids loved him. He did visits all the time even when it wasn't his turn!

I though he had everything to be a decent player when he first appeared for the first team but he wasn't a full back.
