Can I just point out, that without Mr Jenkins there probably wouldn't be a 'Carlisle United', people seem to have forgotten, that over the years he has put a lot of his own money in just to keep the bloody thing going, I know I'm going to get a lot of flack over this but like me, a lot of people are saying exactly the same privately.
I don't think anybody has forgotten about this bluebry, but arguably this has only been necessary due to the way the club has been run by Mr Jenkins and his fellow board members. With no viable alternative to the 'custodians' I think he has been afforded a lot of sympathy and gratitude for him putting his hand in his pocket whenever necessary - but there is now a viable alternative with new ideas and a promise of dragging our club kicking and screaming into the 21st Century. There was a lot of positivity and excitement around the Lapping proposal, how it could take the club to being self-sufficient and drive us forward with fresh ideas and investment - after all the main part of this proposal is to remove the need for Mr Jenkins to have to prop the club out of his own pocket.
The issue most fans have with AJ and JN is that they had what appears to be an excellent opportunity to gain a large amount of investment into the club, with a new, dynamic board and investors made of mainly of local business people, alongside some excellent footballing professionals to move us forward into the future... but they then decided that this anonymous and ambiguous overseas billionaire is potentially the "best thing for the club"... or, if you think like the majority of the people on here do, they think they are the best thing for the club, despite the fact that in a short number of years they've taken us from the brink of the promotion to the Championship to the verge of relegation out of the football league.
So, yes, the majority of us are appreciative for Mr Jenkins bailing the club out when it's been needed over the years... but his time has come and gone, we need new blood and fresh ideas, we need dynamic business people and communication to us, the fans, the longer they stay in control of the club the more likely we are to fail. There was a buzz around the club at the end of the season, and we could have been in the best position as a club that we've been in for years... but they decided otherwise as they would have more details in 5-10 days... what are we on now, day 55?
