Don't know what sort of contract Coloccini has but for a player so crap and culpable for so many goals against , he was an automatic pick until Raffa came in. Shocking! And he was captain!!

Some big wages in that mess like. ..Shelvey is 70k a week..Townsend must be on summet similar too.that cannot be sustained ..

Some pile of deadwood need cleared out there...a lot of french flops too.
I do think the keeper Darlow has done well and improved a lot since we 1st saw him playing for Walsall. I expect a few youngsters to get a chance next season to get them up there but nobody has that divine right...They may find it a lot tougher to bounce back this time.
Still, the fans will enjoy a good day out in Burton...;)

Parachute payments are now £87m over 3 seasons so I'm sure they'll manage.

Interesting theyve changed the rules on the payments so if a club only survives 1 season they only get 2 years of payments rather than 3.

Solidarity payments have been increased though. League 2 clubs now get £450k.

It's a shame some of the money can't be ring fenced for investment in worthwhile things like stadium improvement and other facilities like junior coaching/equipment, rather than throwing it at new signings or paying off bad managers or agents fees.

To be fair the wage bill is only one of numerous costs incurred by a relegated club.... I'm hearing rumours that Rafa might stay if they basically give him control of the whole club... right from the academy upwards to full control over transfers. If that happens getting relegated could be the best thing that ever happened to the club. That is a big call for Ashley to make though.

Wont be any Dutch there next season I think..Janmaat actively looking to move they reckon he cant defend anyway,they have two very good goalkeepers in Elliot and Darlow so Krul will possibly be offloaded and Wijnladum turned down champions league to sign for them and may be forced to sell not sure he has the balls for championship anyhow

Anita has been a revelation at full back though since Rafa arrived and probably be worth keeping

A lot will depend on Rafa Benitez though I think they have the basis of a squad capable of bouncing back without to much trouble if he stays and if he can persuade Townsend to stay will be a big plus for them
