For those who like a good Football read, let's have your recommendations...

Read Ben Smith's book 'Journeyman' earlier this week, good tale of life in the Lower Leagues. The chapters about Crawley under Evans are hilarious!

One maybe for us "older" boarders, but is absolutely class, about what the footballing professional culture was like in the 60's & 70's. Jimmy Greaves' battle against the demon drink, great title as well.

Thought I'd dig this one back up.

I took a trip down nostalgia lane by purchasing a copy of Simon Inglis' classic "Football Grounds Of England & Wales". Actually it might be the Football Grounds Of Britain which is an updated version to cover the scottish grounds.

Really hit home when I read his acknowledgment at the front as he has written the original before the Bradford fire and admitted he got his comments regarding old, unique but ultimately unsafe stands totally wrong. Interesting to hear his humility regarding Bradford where he had said something along the lines of their old wooden main stand being worth preserving (for it's architectural value). Also really interesting comments regarding the development of new grounds - he thought it unlikely that many clubs would move to new stadiums, he couldn't have been much more incorrect!

I have another of his - "The Football Grounds of Europe" to look forward to.

Both cost about £3 including P&P; on ebay.

I want a copy of his book about Archibald Leitch (stadium designer) called "Engineering Archie", but can't find any at a price I'm willing to pay.

My dad picked me up a book called "Carlisle's Cult Heroes" by Paul Harrison that I keep on meaning to start on.

Other than that I'm working my way though "The Ugly Game: The Qatari plot to buy the world cup" by Blake and Calvert.

Already re-read Stamping Grounds a book about football in Lichtenstein that I read a couple of years back and really enjoyed.

On top of that I'm trying to make my way through the game of thrones books.

Got that Stamping Grounds somewhere, wasn't a bad read...
