Today's vote.
A Quaint gypsy travelling folk
B Robbing, pikey, violent chavs with no regard for anyone else or the law.

I'll vote 'B'.

Trouble spreads away from Appleby with them.
My daughter was playing in a football tournament at Frenchfields in Penrith today, and at about 3-30, there was police cars everywhere blocking roads off and stopping traffic.
Rumour has it, all to do with some Gypsies being asked to leave Appleby by the police.

There was an armed police response to an incident at the llama cafe today.

Never thought I would type those words!

Lot of blood shed at the Nell Gwynn tearooms.

I fully expect to see 'Llama Drama' as a headline in N&S.;

I drove back to Appleby from Penrith today. We were greeted with armed police everywhere, two buses full of armed police under police escort and dozens of patrol cars with lights flashing with officers everywhere ready for action. Really friendly fair is Appleby, a top tourist spectical. I'am really proud as a father of a young family this comes to Appleby every year. It is well worth the extra I pay in council tax every year and I'am sure everyone eles in the Eden district feels the same. Maybe Cumbria police could have the same feelings towards CUFC and police all future fixtures for free!

Unfortunately the genuine Romany gypsies are now the minority, the romantic view of colourful travelling folk in bowtop caravans is pretty much history. What has taken over is a culture of greed, poor manners, bad behaviour and general dishonesty. Personally i find them utterly vile to deal with, and I'm normally a fairly easy going sort of bloke.

I'm not sure if this was a tongue-in-cheek post, but in the interest of clarity....

No, we don't all feel the same!

Bruntonpasty sums it up well.

Travelling along the A66 to Scotch Corner last week saw few genuine travellers with bow tops. What were travelling was youths, in pairs, probably from a Council House in Bishop Auckland or some other NE small town. why today, people see the need to to trot a pony or horse all that way is beyond me. Many hide behind the traveller name, and for some reason this seems to keep the Inland Revenue away.

Other than for a very few, Appleby Fair in it's present form is played out,
