Looks like he isn't accepting the eu vote either by annoucing the Lib Dems will overturn or push for getting back into europe if they get into a position of power after the next election.
I know the Lib Dems are on their arse and are desperate for support but this shows total lack of respect for the majority of people who voted on thursday and i hope this blows up in his face .
Then man (and i say that lightly ) is a total disgrace to politics and a complete shan to Cumbria .

I have to agree-in reality, they are totally irrelevant to politics just now.

What gets me is no one seems to have objected to the Referendum until the result went the other way-as Farage said today,it's not 'best of three'

As for Sturgeon, she has no position,no economy and no mandate-there will be no referendum as Europe hardly needs another basket case alongside the rest of the Southern Europe.

In 5 years time,we will look back and wonder why we hung around so long-we are the 5th largest economy in the world and will be seen as a safe haven like Switzerland so long as we keep Corbyn and Co out.

This whole non acceptance of the vote reminds me of Kinnock on the night the Tories won-even in defeat,he claimed the voters got it wrong. The Establishment has in reality been hit by an earthquake and it was long overdue. Most of the UK has been cast adrift by Globalisation and the London elite better wake up to that fact.

It's people like David Lammy who worry me more, practically threatening to ignore the democractic will of the people by blocking it in parliament. Or - worse still - some inside the EU who have actually said "Cameron should never have given the British people their say". To say that's a dangerous statement doesn't even begin to describe it, and just confirms we made the correct decision.

Going back as far as Kinnock, Major up to Cameron, they have all concentrated far to much on promoting the interests of the EU in the UK instead of promoting the interests of the UK in the EU.

Hi Laffy,

I spent a lot of time trying to verify facts before I voted but was never able to determine what 'the 5th largest economy' fact was based on ie GNP, capita per head. Any chance you can enlighten me, Cheers

How old is he could he be like everyone under a certain age taking hissy fits because the vote never went there way.I blame there parents and the do gooders of the world kids not getting there way so the parents give in to easily .Mine would have not give in to me and slapped my arse ,it never done me any harm.Watching Farron on TV with tears in his eyes and all the moneymen from London all as mad as hell and nearly breaking down in the sulks made the referendum result more sweet for me.

GDP though I gather we slipped to 6th behind the French after the pound fell on Friday.

Basically our trade balance means that most countries will be anxious to get us into trade alliances asap, notably Germany and France.

My brother has met him a few times, and would agree with that totally - says he was a thoroughly decent, honest hardworking bloke, committed to public service. You don't have to agree with his views to recognise that.

Or, if you're not the full shilling, you can call him a "thundercunt" - up to you really

Isn't being a good constituency MP what it should be all about? Not the mealy mouthed feckers saying one thing on the costituency doorsteps and then toeing the party line in the opposite direction?

I think 'Shan full' can be reserved for the Consertaives; the 'remain group' never thought they'd have to go through with this. The result of the 2015 election seemed to be heading for another hung parliment and more snuggling up with the 'nice friendly lib dems' a convenient excuse for Cameron to have to 'compromise' and not hold a referendum and avoid the ideological right of his party.

The next part is that the Leave group have no plan and seemed in the case of 'Team Boris' never expected to win! This leaves Boris having torn. There's clearly a lack of any thought out plan and now Liam Fox, Michael Gove and Boris are all urging that we set back and wait rather than act on the result themselves. Surley they should be demanding the implimentation of Article 50? Weird that they arn't? Indeed further 'shan' can be noted as they now seem to be spending their time plotting advancing their own careers as opposed to getting on with 'Getting our country back'. It's also been noted that the likes of Boris have realised/concluded we need to be part of the single market, and therefore that we may have to accept 'free movement of people'. Boris now has to consider how this is broken to a public that the right wing press has convinced that all our problems relate to the EU as opposed to other factors like globalism and multi-national companies. He knows it's going to be all pitch folks and yokal hats.

Tim Farron needs to bolster support; this was the fact regarding the Conservative party that led to this wholse referendum so i guess he's entitled to do what he likes and people have a choice to vote for this. The result was close and in ten years a significant proportion of Leave voters will be gone. We also have the opportunity to gauge the result of the Leave vote; who knows, only every credible economist felt that leaving was going to be bad for our economy, what do they know though. We'll see.

'Shan full' though is the Leave leadership urging time to take stock! The public has indeed spoken, let them have what they wanted, get on with it. Anyone who voted leave should be demanding from their MP that Article 50 is implimented right now as was promised.

The Libs and any other party can offer that option if they like - and general elections are usually won with only 35% of the vote

In fact if the tories can't find a pm willing to step off the landmine and trigger article 50 (bojo doesn't seem keen does he?), the next GE winners may not have to apply to rejoin at all, just say they're ignoring the referendum result as it was only advisory. If the next GE produces a coalition they can do that and then blame each other

In the end, we're in a parliamentary democracy, it's the people we elect to parliament that have the final say, not us

Farrons ignoring a majority decision and latching on to bitter remain voters for a few cheap votes for his poxy party he may be a decent MP but he should have just accepted what the country had decided and got on with more pressing issues like how to avoid meeting deeksme's brother if he's anything like him. ;)

I agree but when do our local MPs ever have a straw poll of constituents?. As has been prooved on thursday if they did really listen then maybe Mr Cameron et al would have tried to get a lot better deal for us than they did.

I get your point about accepting the decision. I voted remain, but my side lost; such is life. Didn't hurt anywhere near as much as Howson's goal at BP did 8 years ago, or many other such instances. Let's get on with sorting it all out all out and leave ASAP. Oh and crack on with spending 350 million quid a day on the NHS like we were promised....

Nigel Farage in May said if result was 52 : 48 in favour of remain it would be unfinished business, he would fight for a second referendum. Now its not the best of three?
Leave battlebus suggested we spend the £350 million we apparently contributed to the EU on the NHS instead, now Farage says that was a mistake, after 2 days the money seemas to have dissapeared already.
Just shows how poor the quality of debate was on both sides, we have no idea what the reality of brexit will be like. Would you invest a significant chunk of money into a business operating in such an uncertain environment laffy?

Farrons ignoring a majority decision and latching on to bitter remain voters for a few cheap votes for his poxy party he may be a decent MP but he should have just accepted what the country had decided and got on with more pressing issues like how to avoid meeting deeksme's brother if he's anything like him. ;)

Both of my brothers are much nicer blokes than me, don't worry.

Did you have to mention that goal? My front door never worked the same after getting in that night. I literally punched my pillow until l had no energy left. Even when l hear his name on Football League review or whatever it's called, l still shout out '[censored]'

The same Tim Faron who believes gay sex is a sin and abstained on the vote for gay marriage?

Not all that "Liberal" really. No, no we don't need another 650 like him.

Yes thats right abstained so as not to put his own views above those of his constituents many of who will have approached him asking what his intentions were on the subject having the opposite views to him.

You dont achieve over 10 years what he has numbers wise as a Liberal MP [ the last time i voted there the conservatives had a 20k majority and hes now heading towards the same an amazing swing if you think about it ] without being someone that a hell of a lot of the constituents like and trust.

The biggest threat to this country is the Tory Govt much more than the EU ever was. I await with baited breath for the bright new future promised by the leave campaign. Apparently the far right fascist racists have already started trying to cleanse us of the foreign rapists, in the news today. What can of worms have we unleashed on the country.

Will the British equivalent of the "Arab Spring" be followed by an Indian summer for the British economy? Or will the useless and perfidious British political elite be allowed to make a massive crisis out of the current situation? Cometh the hour cometh the man - which Tory or Labour politician will have the cojones to step forward? Tim Farron obviously doesn't!

Anyone who voted leave should be demanding from their MP that Article 50 is implemented right now as was promised.
This is one thing that really bugs me... why do people think a cross party campaign group would have a plan? That is not their job... it's the job of the elected government to but their plan in place, which they seem to be doing. Leave or remain are simply groups of individuals who are supporting one side of the referendum discussion... they have no power and no authority to make a plan... how can people not get that? This crap was doing the rounds on facebook yesterday... it is genuinely embarrassing reading some of the stuff on there from yummy mummies worried their nanny might become more expensive if we leave the EU.

Interesting that folk aren't asking why Cameron hasn't got any plan in place, instead saying its for the incoming to deal with.

You set up this Referendum in order to win the last election, now crack on with setting the wheels in motion instead of wallowing in self pity.

The moment pre-General Election when he said he'd stand down after a second term in that interview at his house was one of the main catalysts for this whole situation...

Gideon claimed in his statement this morning that there are plans in place, said that though they weren't expecting it they still planned for it just in case.

As Vogel said, Farage said in May that if the result was as 52:48 he would push for a second referendum. Obviously at that time he was expecting to be on the losing side.

Have any of the countries that experienced the Arab Spring found stability since ?

Libya, Syria and Yemen are all war zones.

Egypt were taken over by the Muslim Brotherhood, who are now designated as terrorist group and their leaders sentenced to death.

The rest of the countries made token reforms without any real intention of anything changing.

I'd probably go for us doing the 3rd option. Especially once we realise Freedom of Movement is a non-negotiable for access to the Common Market.

"Intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this country with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us."
With apologies to H.G.Wells and a middle finger to Jean Claude Junker, another out of the Blatter mould of arrogant Euro-elite untouchables, bit like Nixon but on a much bigger scale!

Some short to medium term drop was always bound to happen... markets don't like uncertainty. Most people who voted leave undoubtedly appreciated that there would be short term pain.... for me it is well worth it for the right to self govern. Plus this is all about the long game...we will come to a difficult agreement with the EU in the next couple of years no doubt.... but the real bonus is that we will then be free to trade with the rest of the world.... areas that are delivering growth. The economy is strong enough to survive in the short term with a bit of belt tightening.... but the additional opportunity to trade with billions in places like India, China, south America is a game changer for this country. That is when the EU countries will look on with envy as they still haven't agreed a free trade deal as the Italians are vetoing the deal due to a row over tinned tomatoes ( the reason for the current stalling with Australian - EU deal).
