TOPIC: Thailand Rabies

My lads off to Thailand on holiday next month. Had the recommended injections. Checked the Gov sites and rabies is stated as high risk, however they don't say rabies injections are a must. He's just doing the usual tourist thing. The thing is a rabies injection costs £170. Has anyone been, or can anyone offer any advice wether it is necessary?

If he gets bitten by a rabid animal then it would have been worth the money. If not then it probably wasn't worth it.

Rabbies has a long incubation period , if he gets bitten by a animal he can still get the vaccine which will prevent it , but make sure he does it before symptoms start.

Out of interest what Vaccinations has he already had ? When we went we looked into it and our doctor told us not to really bother.

Though he did say that depended in what we were planning on doing whilst out there.

He's had hepatitis A & B , then just given leaflets.

Depends where he's planning on going, pretty sizeable country so different things recommended for different areas if it's still the same as when we went about 6 years ago.

I usually mitigate the rabies risk by only going with toothless ladyboys
