Well i think he shouldnt be getting all the stick he has had this week. Not that he gives a flying [censored].. He cares about the country and comes across assertive enough to deserve the chance to lead it.. And not be forced to back out...Politics will always have party infighting ,Gove aint fussed it seems.

They mentioned on the radio this morning that he doesn't always realise how his actions are perceived by others and is driven by a cause to the end.

So in this instance, he believes we need Brexit, but doesn't think Boris is good enough to deliver it so sees it as his duty to take over and ensure it is done. However he doesn't realise that the way he has gone about it makes him look like a treacherous c*unt. Also as a result it will probably mean that he will continue with his campaign to become PM until it is impossible for him to be, whereas others may pull out of the race earlier.

They did say that the way he has gone about it will most likely mean he has no chance of getting the PM job.

I think the job is Theresa May's to lose. Gove and Leadsom are concentrating too much on the Brexit issue, basically basing their campaigns on the fact that they backed it, which will divide the party, where as because May didn't get involved too much she can be seen as a unifier.

I meant in appearance ha ha the glasses reminded me of the minions phenomenon sweeping every kids toy going.

Seriously nobody knows what has gone on but to take the action he has he must have come to the conclusion that Boris wasn't actually made of the right stuff to lead the country out of Europe and actually LEAD the country !! After all hes on record dozens of times saying he didn't want the PM job. Not really sure why Boris had to resign maybe he should have stood anyway and toughed it out, they have fallen out anyway now.. There was always gonna be other candidates and Cameron supporters would have seen Boris off anyhow

Education in todays society is already suppressing the creative minds of children. to much focus on discipline and testing kids from as young as 6 is a form of bureaucracy gone mad. a prison state if ever there was 1

Apparently Gove wanted a meeting with Boris on the Saturday after the referendum but Boris was playing cricket.

The next day Gove went to meet Boris at his house. Turned out it wasn't quite the meeting he had expected but a barbecue for all and sundry.

The next day Gove rang Boris about his 3000 word speech. He'd only written 400!

There's a pattern there! All Gove has managed to do is f**k Boris's career and probably his own while letting Teresa May in as PM.

Boris, does have a reputation for winging it. Apparently he is as disorganised as he appears. He gets away with it because of his charm and his massive intelligence but at the end of the day he is a shambles and probably couldn't hold a cabinet together. Gove is like the class swot - always sneaking to the teacher to complain that the other kids have been skiving off and not doing their homework.

It's odds-on that it will be either Theresa May or Andrea Leadsom. I think both would make a good steady Prime Minister. Leadsom is probably better as Chancellor but I don't mind who gets the job in the end. - they are both Thatcher-lite. We'll fudge some compromise where we can prevent EU migrants coming without a job lined up and we can send some benefit claimants back and still keep access to the single market by chipping some cash in. Sturgeon will be humiliated every time she tries to meet EU bigwigs.

Boris- his massive intelligence!!! I do love your sense of the ridiculous. The same Boris who was described by Ian Hislop on Have I Got News as 'as stupid as he looks'. Hislop told us 'people ask if Boris in real life is much much more intelligent than he seems, the truth is he really really isn't'. ,
Both of these hideous harridans are dyed in the wool Thatcherites, more failed austerity policies, selling off public assets to their friends, erosion of human rights and lets not forget the Tory nugget in every woodpile, incompetence. She oversaw the half a billion implementation of the Borders Force computer system which to this day doesn't work. Still no doubt a job in Capita awaits her when it all goes belly up, consulting fees paid offshore and tax free a la Cameron
Aye, she'll be a great Prime MInister

Why oh why does Government Local and National still employ Capita to install computer systems. Shocking record of failed systems ,surely there's a fix they can put in you'd think tho.

All of the current candidates will make Cameron look like a liberal. If the public think the current cuts and austerity is bad, get ready for real ideological conservatives to take control. We certainly will value the NHS more once we have to pay for it.

Deckchair, Cameron is a liberal. History will remember his achievements as introducing gay marriage, nearly giving Scotland independence and taking us out of the EU. Although the government is now going to lurch to the right I am not sure that means more austerity. We have had a devaluation of the pound against our trading currencies so our imports will cost more adding to inflation but our exports should do well. It would be perverse to make further cuts in government spending at this stage although HS2 is likely to be canned. My guess is that the government will prioritise growth over deficit reduction especially in the short-term with Carney hinting at a further interest rate reduction. This is why the stock market has recovered most of its losses. Cash in the bank is going to earn close to zero interest but the return of inflation is going to erode the capital. I think we have interesting times ahead.

People who slash payments to the terminally ill to fund capital gains tax cuts for the richest 2% are not liberals. The only thing liberal about Cameron is his sexual preferences.

It doesn't matter who comes in they will continue Tory policy. They have drawn up a model based on the US. They cut taxes, workers rights etc to shift funds to the wealthiest 5%. The wealthy in turn donate money to the Conservative Party. The Tories then outspend the opposition and with the support of the press and TV they promote their policies. The Fed estimates that America is 10% 'richer' than when Obama came to power but the proportion of income earned by the middle class has fallen 25%. So who has the money gone to?

The Treasury is currently budgeting now £230bn for Trident (US), £167bn for Fx fighters (US), HS2 (Germany and with no plans to cancel), Hinckley Point £25bn (France/China) and so it goes on. These projects will continue as the career path for a Tory MP is Westminster then on to a political post with the UN, EU, Nato or peace envoy somewhere and the whole system becomes self perpetuating. Sadly as the money disappears from the country into off shore bank accounts it leaves nothing over for hospitals, schools, roads or flood defences so the man in the street gets to pay more and more tax. We now pay 44% of income to the Government, more than ever before; and we receive per head less services than since the start of the 60s

After the formation of the Coalition Government in 2010, Gove was appointed Secretary of State for Education. Gove sought to expand the academies programme introduced by the previous Labour Government. At its 2013 conference, Gove was criticised by the National Association of Head Teachers, whose members condemned the "climate of bullying, fear and intimidation" they said he had created during his time as Education Secretary, and passed a vote of no confidence in his policies. Votes of no confidence were also passed by the Association of Teachers and Lecturers, National Union of Teachers and NASUWT at their conferences in 2013. Gove regularly meets with his former employer, Rupert Murdoch, to discuss political matters.

In a 2014 reshuffle, Gove was moved to the post of Chief Whip.Following the 2015 election, Gove was promoted to the offices of Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice. In 2016, Gove played a major role in the UK's referendum on EU membership as the co-convenor of Vote Leave.
Gove is making a good job of the prison service also as seen in recent BBC TV documentary. Prisons are being run by the prisoners with little or no discipline and drugs and violence against staff rife and what is Gove doing about it.
His close association with Rupert Murdoch says everything about this weasel. I am unsure if he is still friendly with Cameron and Boris. It has also been suggested in press articles that he leaks information from the cabinet office in oder to further his ambition.

The man was a disaster as education secretary and is the main reason NUT members have voted to strike today.

Forced academisation, I'll thought through and shambolic implementation of GCSE and A level reforms, increased testing of younger and younger children, the bloody awful "be all and end all" emphasis on grammar.

It's not just what he does, but the smarmy gob shitey way he goes about it that make him so utterly dislikeable! !!

Not sure what Tory colleagues think of him but has had top jobs alright ...I thought he was preferable to Boris as leader as the campaign went on but don't think I could listen to that voice regularly for the next 4 /5 years....First vote today anyway Fox should be the first to fall !

Can't stand the man. As a teacher, having to work under his stewardship and watch as him and his party destroy the education system, I know only too well how ruthless and vile he can be.
Like Hunt is to the NHS, Gove is to education. He was always going to go for the top job and will be happy to walk over anyone who gets in his way. No loyalty, no morals and no idea.
Why the tories would even consider him is beyond me.

Well according to Ben Wallace who was running Boris,s campaign phone calls have been made and e mails sent and they cant see Gove getting past the next round but the interesting bit is theyre saying that the mast majority of his votes will transfer to Leadson maybe making it not the one horse race people seem to think it mihjt be.

I hope Leadsom is not anywhere near, she thought Thatcher was a godess and she spouted lie after lie before the referendum.. Watch out for Thatcherite policies if she gets in. Then we will have all the Brexiters to thank for that. It will be bad enough with May at the helm though.. .

May is an incompetent racist lunatic. Gove is an untrustworthy racist lunatic. Leadsom is a spiteful fascist lunatic. Brabbe is a lying homophobic lunatic. Fox is just a lunatic.

Gove is the worst of the lot though, and Boris and his mates are all getting back at him already by giving their support to Leadsom, surely there is no way she could ever be Prime Minister. As Span says, May would be bad enough, but a fervent follower of Thatcher who thinks her heroine didn't go far enough, that is scary.

But dont you see it ML the bigger the nutter they elect the more likely there will be insurrection and at the very minimum defeat in 4 years time.

And the more radical stuff they try to get thru the bigger the revolt will be. Whats their majority again ? May seems to be the only one willing to struggle thru the next 4 years whereas the others seem to think they can go to the people and win. Bloody nutcases the lot of them.

What the new Chief Constable of Merseyside said yesterday was very interesting in that when the Tory government next call for bobbies to fight the great unwashed on the streets the answer from a lot of forces will be "well we.d love to help but i think your cuts have made that impossible i.m afraid"

Oddly that a bunch of kids can wreck some cars and smash the windows in Spar and a Chief Constable tells them they are safe from arrest doesn't give me any comfort.

That Boris and the May women who introduced trials without defence will tear the country apart for their personal financial gain is not news. Surely though the most disappointing part of this debacle must be the reaction of the Labour Party. In what conceivable sense are they selling themselves as an alternative. If they had united behind Corbyn and announced that they would scrap Trident, HS2 and all this other worthless tat that Cameron has taken bribes for they would have driven a horse and carriage though the incompetents. Instead they have torn each other apart and actually given credence to the argument that however rubbish the Tories are they can go lower. Very very poor indeed

In the long run this might be the best thing to happen to British politics

Two incompetent tit for tat parties whos sole aim appears to be point scoring and name calling against each other tearing themselves apart

Time proportional representation was adopted and smaller parties given a voice and a fairer reflection of who the public want representing them

The rules have changed now. We are now in an era where the government doesn't need to make decisions.

They simply put it to the electorate via a referendum. Power to the people!

Better that than the old boys(and girls) club with the big two parties having things their own way

and the ridiculous situation of all those SNP representing a small segment of the voters and UKIP 1 representive with more voters

The big boys would be decimated with PR and they know it

You might be right Barry, but there is no opposition at the moment, so there's every possibility they could get all sorts of appalling stuff through in the next 4 years, Leadsom, for example, wants there to be no maternity or paternity leave, no workplace rights for employees of small businesses. May wants rid of the human rights act. Cameron was bad enough but these horrible harpies could create havoc.

I have always said in previous posts that this was an orchestrated plan by the far right of the Conservative party to get rid of Cameron who is seen as weak and to replace him with an Extreme right wing leader. The referendum was the means to get rid of Cameron and he fell right into the trap. We are heading for legislation that will make our hair curl and back to the Thatcherite days and there will be no one to stop them.

Jesus. Do you believe George Bush crashed two planes on 9/11 so he could grab all of the Middle East's oil?

I have always said in previous posts that this was an orchestrated plan by the far right of the Conservative party to get rid of Cameron who is seen as weak and to replace him with an Extreme right wing leader. The referendum was the means to get rid of Cameron and he fell right into the trap. We are heading for legislation that will make our hair curl and back to the Thatcherite days and there will be no one to stop them.

Maybe better bale out to Europe now Span lad, before them Europeans pull up their draw bridge!!!!

The Weasel is now trying to manipulate the Tory leader election voting.

Surely Mays supporters will see thru this and realise that if they play along all theyre doing is putting him in a position to stab yet another candidate in the back.

The reality is the Tories can do what they want currently, safe in the knowledge that the opposition is in even more turmoil than they are. They Labour party are in a position where an unelectable leader, with virtually no support from Labour MP's, would probably win another leadership election. I can't see a way out of this for Labour.... I'd be surprised if Corbyn backed down and resigned, so Labour face a significant period of time with a lame duck leader.... it would be very ironic if large swathes of the Labour parliamentary party start voting against Corbyn in the House, given the fact he is is famed for voting against his party more times than any other Labour mp. The whole thing is making me chuckle I must admit... I see a formal party split coming on.

I believe legal action against the Corbyn millitants in certain constituencies where local parties have been infiltrated could be the next step as an injunction would stop them voting to remove and deselect any MP.s standing against him making it look more likely that a challenge from Angela Eagle will follow.

The local party here moved swiftly to fill a couple of vacancies with people loyal to the anti Corbyn stance of the local MP.
