It's on the BBC text service now,club have admitted it saying the sold 4 or 5 tickets at £20 each.

Come on the club have been lying about a billionaire for 15 months now.. thats shanful enough for national news.,never mind this smaller shan from chesterfield.

The main embarrassment is Chesterfield manage to get a pre season tour to Hungary while our tinpot shower organise a tour of northern non league clubs

Had to delete a post in this thread (and replies which quoted it, albeit none of them agree with the allegation made).

If you want to make unsubstantiated allegations which could potentially be seen as libellous, do us all a favour and setup a blog and take your own risk with it.

Why waste the money on doing that when you can prepare just as well over here as I can't imagine Cassius Camps or the whole team staying at Kelham Hall will have been cheap.

They may only have played one game but at least someone at Chesterfield had the imagination to do something different in pre season Kendal,Workington, Warrington and Barrow do you really think that is a good quality preparation for the season

Much better prep, playing teams in a league above us, than some random Cypriot team surely ? Probably proven as all other than that game all of Chesterfield's games are against English teams.

Why pay more to go away and do something when you can do it here ? It's not like we are a prem team that's going to increase its brand by playing there.

Following on from my statement on Monday, I am still reeling from the shameful incident that has attracted nationwide headlines for the football club for all the wrong reasons.
After a thorough internal investigation, I can now confirm that the person responsible for this total farce has now left the football club.
Kevin Fitzgerald has been a hardworking, respected, likeable employee who has, for some reason, made a massive error of judgement and has subsequently paid the consequences for his actions. The board were unaware of his actions and have taken swift action after uncovering the truth.
I do hope that we can look for a replacement to head our commercial department, move forward and pick up the pieces from the whole sorry mess.
Finally, I want to confirm that all other lotteries/raffles run by the club, which are so valuable to providing funds, are in no way affected by this isolated incident."

Swiftly dealt with in the right manner.... if only our club would do the same with various shans..but nowt has changed off the pitch for me... new puppets..same puppet masters pulling the strings

It actually does sound like he's been used as a scapegoat doesn't it? But that could be because we're used to such underhand schemes at our club, and to be fair this has escalated in a similar, but much smaller, way to our billionaire.

Something was done which the board thought was right, in our case Laffy's bid was ditched, in their case the competition was scrapped without telling anybody. In both cases there was a bit of a backlash, which neither club expected, they were put under pressure, backed into a corner and had to come up with an explanation. Our lot chose to invent a billionaire, theirs chose to invent a fan from outside the area. The difference is they've been challenged and said it was bollocks and done something about it, our lot are still stubborn enough to think it will eventually go away.
