Well it seems that the Lapping Deal just didn,t have the funds available which to be honest was to be expected, but then again the age of the present Board would suggest that changes have to be made, and fairly quickly.
Elderly gentlemen tend to have a habit of kicking the bucket, and the remaining family members tend not to share their parents passion for Carlisle United, ie there is no Monkhouse, Sheffield or Brayton on the present Board, Then newcomers have to present themselves and take over as Custodians of the Club. Carry on the tradition, and then in their turn kick the proverbial bucket so others can continue the expectations that local Carlisle Businessmen are those best suited to look after our Club.
Is there a mystery Billionaire, (Whatever that valuation means). Possibly, but is that important.
Our present Board have indicated that they are ready to hand over their responsibilities and before we castigate them for the efforts they have put in, perhaps we should say thanks Gentlemen, well done, and hopefully a new generation of local Businessessmen will step forward and take over without the aid of an third party organiser.
Mr Lapping, as a Carlisle Fan one day you may one day end up as MD in your own right, but for a Club that has survived for years without the support of outside influences, can we really expect some mythical trillionaire to come to our rescue and propell us thru the leagues.
Nah, current Board has realised the folly of the path they were following, ended it, and Mr Lapping, it's up to you to come up with a plan with some substance that everybody can accept and provide a future path for the Club.
come on Quokka... You aren't a stupid man... Excluding your barmy idea to let people into the waterworks for £1..... Nobody has any reason to believe that AL couldn't raise the promised funds. It's too early in the process for that in any case.
You mention that old gents have a habit of kicking the bucket... They also have a habit of hanging around businesses well after their sell by date, preventing much needed change. They have SAID they are willing to hand the club over... But their actions betray their real motives. It looks very likely that the last few weeks has been manufactured purely to get rid of the AL threat to their positions. They are now dealing with their other big threat, the Trust... By bringing them in-house for the price of the token position of fans representative. If the team get off to a good start, who knows, it may well succeed. Certain fans seem to be buying the unsubstantiated slur on AL ability to raise funds. And Lapping did come up with a credible plan... Which is why they are now implementing large parts of it.
Personally I am disgusted by the behaviour of the club this summer. It has been an utter shambles and they have treated the fans with nothing but contempt. Im not sure if AL was the answer ... But he has a good track record in football, is a Carlisle fan and was looking to tackle the areas where the club is under performing. It's too early to tell how successful he might be. What we do know is the current BOD are terrible at running a football club. Their track record is appalling. Their plans to move us forward before AL were laughable.
