TOPIC: Mark Beck to YeovilTown?

Just a rumour on twitter at the moment.

Paul Sturrock will be a big fan with him being Scottish and that.

I think he might end up at Queens though.

Good move for him. I think he will come good as well, was playing alongside Loy at Falkirk and did well

I'll drive him there myself and I won't even charge him if it's true.

I disagree..i think he be playing for reds in the next 12 month..not good enough for this level

When he had his first game for us I thought we might have got a good one, he seemed to have potential, he's a big lad and looked like he might be able to put it about. For me, he has just never realised his potential, there has been very little improvement since his first appearance. By this stage the ball shouldn't be bouncing 30 yards every time he tries to control it, he shouldn't be getting bullied by defenders half his size and he should be capable of directing the headers he wins (because at least he can do that).

I think you are right Happyblue, he will leave and develop into a good striker, let's face it our record on developing goal scorers is not great.

And then fans slag the manager and club off for letting another Gem leave the club....
Just like Murray and Madden who couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo when they where here..

For what its worth think there might be a decent player in there but the lad needs to find somewhere he can play week in week out..

Yeah I think he could become a decent target man when he matures. He needs to bulk up a bit and be a bit more aggressive too but I wish him well if he does move on. Yeovil have seen the best of him already. I was there when he bagged two and his second was a beauty.

Becks had a lot of pressure on him, we've not been good upfront for a long time and everyone's been desperate for him or someone to come through and be a success! He needs a run of games, just may not happen with us.

He had a great game against Blackburn in the cup, just couldn't keep that going unfortunately. I'd send him away on loan for 6 months - if he comes good then get him back in!

Did Curle not say he'd be failing as a manager if he didn't make Beck into a Championship striker?

I still think there is someone worth keeping. Ideal to throw on desperate for a goal in the last 10 mins to bomb the box. No striker can be judged on our last 3 seasons . There has been no supply line at all.

I think a move is the best option for Beck, if its Yeovil good luck to the lad, but i can see him at Barrow with Symmington

Knowing our luck he'll take Yeovil up like paddy did.

I think he'll go and score goals somewhere.

He's never looked like a brilliant player but he seems like he has a knack of scoring goals - even if his record might not suggest so. He always seems to score goals in friendlies and with a bit of luck and good coaching he'll score goals for a league club. Don't think it will be us, though.

Think he could do well given a good run in the team,seen him have some very good games,but let's be fair he's neve been given a good run in the team,brief 20min subs appearances aren't enough to write him off just yet. Can remember the game against Blackburn,he was quality that night,their fans were raving about him after that game, good luck to the lad

The trouble is either Beck hasn't been learning, he hasn't been coached properly or he just isn't capable. He can win headers, but so he should at that size, but that really is his lot, his first touch is not the best which means he's incapable of holding the ball up and allowing our players to get close to him. Holding the ball up is something that can be coached, you'd hope our manager would believe he could do that to Mark Beck. You'd also hope that he would.

Considering KC has brought in Wyke&Jabo; since he made that comment he's probably seen enough of Beck to think he won't cut it. It's not only him who has failed to improve as it's been happening for years.

I take Dempsey as an exception but for me his was all about personal drive and would've moved on whoever was coaching him.

Anyone else surprised he's 'earned' a two year deal in League 2? Have they seen him play other than the time he scored two crackers down there?

Edited as I forgot they got relegated. Still stand by the amended statement above!

Probably best deal for both parties, BBC Cumbria saying there's no fee but there's sell on clauses in the deal.

Hope he bangs them in and gets sold for a hefty fee

Got the potential to do well, just needs use his weight and smash defenders out of the way. even if he fouls them 3 or 4 times early on the defender will know he's there and in for a game. seemed too soft for a big target man

And if he helps them get promotion this season perhaps Scunthorpe will buy him for £300,000!

And what is the link between Carlisle and Yeovil? Since Yeovil came into the Football League we have gained Kevin gall and Andy Welsh. They got James Berrett, Paddy Madden and now Mark Beck. Players at this level don't normally travel such distances

Good move for us that, I always wanted him to do well for us because he came through our development, but he just isn't good enough. Never really understood the hype people had about him

I can't see him doing what Madden did down there, having said that, I was chuffed when we shipped him too.

Not too fussed if we don't get another striker. I think with a better back four and midfield than last two seasons, teams won't spend as much time ripping us apart and we'll keep more ball hopefully too, so naturally through that added possession, you'd hope our strikers saw a few more opportunities too

A winger is a must. I think Rigg, Wyke and Assamoah will get more goals next season playing alongside Jabo, his job isn't to score goals, its to support these poachers we've got in Rigg and Wyke, and to free the ball up for Assamoah, who I think could have a great season; we can't really do this though if we dont have the balls coming in to our strikers, so we need a good winger to do this.
