There's a deadline for them to submit them to the football league, after that's done I guess they'll update it then.

Got to be in the next week or so I'd imagine.

Noticed Grainger been wearing No.3 pre-season on his training gear, plays with my OCD when a left-back wears No.2 like he did last season!

Not just me then, I was amazed, when so much was wrong at the club, how much wearing the wrong number wound me up.

If I was picking the squad numbers I'd have my 2 centre backs wearing 10 and 7. My right back wearing 11, my left back wearing 5, the numbers 3 and 6 would be worn by centre forwards and my number 9 would be a defensive midfielder.

Does the number 1 have to be the goalkeeper? We could have Troy at 1 - anyone arguing with that?

The team should be:
1
2 5 6 3
7 8 4 11
9 10

You're an awful human being.

I don't seem to remember many people moaning when Matty Robson wore number 10 on the left wing? (And indeed at left back, ala William Gallas)

Trying to think of more highly immoral CUFC squad numbers of recent years but my mind has gone blank.

Plenty of midfielders wear 6 don't they?

I noticed the other day in their friendly that Alonso has switched to 14.

My favourite ever shirt number was Zamorano right after Ronaldo had signed and took his number 9 shirt

Even though I liked the pair of them as players, Loy as 9 and Miller as 14 always did my head in for some reason.

Also Dempsey at Spurs as number 2 wound me right up.

I got a glitch on FIFA 15 which also made like half my players number 128 which made me eventually give up on the save. Couldn't bare to look at them.

How do you feel about the potential left back for next year (Brough) wearing 11?

Haven't been officially announced or submitted yet but it's going to be:

2 Miller
3 Grainger
4 Joyce
5 Raynes
6 Atkinson
7 Kennedy
9 Wyke
10 Hery
11 Brough

Ok if he plays on the wing first game. Strange but reversing 2 and 3 is the one that really gets my nerves going, although I think I would struggle with a goalie wearing anything other than 1 of the numbers 1-11. and prefer centre backs to be 5 and 6, I can cope with all sorts of madness up front and midfield but having the back five mixed up for the first game of the season is just wrong.

Centre back should surely be 4 & 5, shouldn't they? Remember back to Deano & Mountfield.

Numbers 1-5 for the back '5' surely? Why does 4 get shoved into midfield by everyone???

Sorry but that is wrong, it goes right back to the traditional numbering way back where the traditional formation was 2-3-5, so 2 full backs (2 and 3) 3 half backs (4, 5 and 6 - right , left and centre half) and 5 forwards (7,8,9,10 and 11 outside right, inside right centre forward inside left and outside left). When the new 4-4-2 formation or system came in two of the half backs were known as centre half and they were generally 5 and 6. Very few teams under the original numbering system back in the day had their number 4 in central defence (Billy Bremner anyone?)

If the numbers are as suggested (Pretty much match up training gear been worn by said players), then likes of Troy, Sweeney, Dicker and Kearns have had their numbers taken from them.

Yet more poor management, potentially creating division amongst players (They're funny creatures with stuff like shirt numbers)...

If that's the case then it's disappointing, but why have they even bothered giving them minutes in pre season if they aren't even going to have a squad number come August.

CMW appears to have his squad number (if we're going by their training kit).

I'd be disappointed if Curle doesn't see the value in using Troy, Dicker and Kearns then that is poor management. Fair enough he may want to move them on but they have so e thing to offer in the meantime.

Everyone of them should be given a fresh start. Curle's a w4nker if this is true. Got a squad of about 25 players and he's (allegedly) crying to Nixon about him not coughing up even more funds to sign that Osei or whatever his name is...

There is a certain amount of flexibility. I'm very much for centre backs being 5 and 6. Defensive midfielder wears number 4. However , as you say, we used to use 4 and 5, with 6 being a midfielder.

Have always felt that number 5 is a proper centre back number but the Liverpool side of the 80's used to go with 4 and 6 for the centre backs and number 5 was Ronnie Whelan. That really annoyed me as a child. They also used to give number 9 to Ray Houghton. Always have to be different..

Affirmative.

I think the rationale behind giving unwanted players pitch time is so they can be watched by scouts and are a reasonable level of fitness for new clubs. I haven't heard of too much interest of the unwanted 6 barring Barrow wanting Beck on loan. Anyone else heard anything?
