Could this be the billionaire who has looked into investing in the club?

Well goes to show that despite being in quiet Cumbria we could be on someone's radar. Cumberland brewery isn't the biggest of breweries around but somehow managed to get on this billionaires radar.

Yeah, you're right mate, but Corby ale is quite a well known beer (and is decent, as is Corby Fox).

I think someone has overheard Jenks and Nixon claiming they couldn't organize a piss up in a brewery and posted it on Twitter regarding a Billionaire! I bet the old fools are just staring at the phone hoping

The difference between this investment and the football club investment is that there is logic behind it. It is an industry he is already succesful in. It allows him easy access to the growing UK craft beer market. It allows him to promote existing American beer into Europe. He has a chance of making a good return on his investment.

Other than the fact they are both based in Cumbria can anybody think of anything else the two potential investments have in common?

Just because a foreign billionaire chooses to buy a business in the same county doesn't mean it is any more likely that a billionaire wants to invest in the football club.

Any billionaire worth his salt is going to jump at the opportunity of being around the same boardroom table as Nixon and Jenkins.

Edward Haughey was rumoured for years to be gan to buy CUFC but nothing ever materialised.

Perhaps it's one of his sons who is interested now!

It could be. He will have been busy in the run-up to the takeover which could explain why he hasn't met AJ and JN. He also wants to promote his Kentucky Ale internationally so linking up with a football club would be a good way of doing it. Being US based he is also less likely to get involved in day-to-day matters leaving the current directors in place.

Overall it seems to tie up. A modest £1.26m investment in the local football club to give his new venture a great marketing boost. Definitely the most likely billionaire so far.

Beer and football go hand in hand and are both the advertisers dream. Buy a brewery and the local club and bingo a self promoting business.

Wazza is there not a few German clubs back and owned by breweries?
