1st real preseason game against a decent side from a higher league. Lack of game time for most of the players, coupled with the fact there'll be loads of new faces.

So what has happened with the trialists? We had 8 in, as I recall 5 were released, then another one joined. We still have 4? Or there have been other comings and goings?

A lot of clubs set up their pre season program around confidence boosting games. Often wondered why Bradford would take a fixture at home playing against lower league opposition which can mean only this.

Right tricky game for us this, we could play well and gt smashed.

I thought Joyce and Atkinson had good games.

To be honest I thought we were good for about 60 minutes, there really didn't seem to be a league's difference between the teams.

Once we started making sub after sub we looked disjointed and they took full advantage.

Valley Parade is a place where not many teams get points from. Much better teams than us go there and lose. Today is by no means an indication that we're going to struggle.

As for last season, well, Kavanagh installed a losing mentality and equipped us with a dreadful squad who were, tactically and skillwise, poor. Curle made some changs and worked with the limited resources he had and acheived the only goal he was probably given, league survival. This season? anything less than promotion a failure? Nah, A top half finish will be a good result for us this season, play offs would be excellent. The signings he's made are at least in positions where we have been deficient for the last two seasons so if they are decent enough players at this level, we'll be ok.

Friendly matches are no indication of what will happen in a season they are for fitness and playing around with tactics. Yesterdays game against Bradford cannot be considered a competitive match only a higher calibre of opposition than what we have faced already, in pre-season.

Every pre-season people read way too much into friendlies... The results of theses games mean sod all. Success or failure in friendlies rarely gives you any idea how the team will do in the league, and isn't a great indicator of how well new signings will do. They are simply about fitness and tactics.

Highlights now up. Piss-poor defending for both IMO and how come Bradford have better highlights for their pre-season games than what we get for League Games.

Piss poor goalkeeping on the first as well. MG should be saving them easily.

Don't get me wrong the first goal was a decent strike but he should never have been allowed to get the shot off in the first place.
