The main reason his ban was so light was because the guy prosecuting him kept talking over him and being a nob... the old judge properly took his side then and it really wound the prosecutor up!

Steven Graham, representing Story, said he knew the road well and the speed limit, describing the offence as “a momentary lapse of concentration”.
"Marcia Reid-Fotheringham, one of the magistrates, asked Story if he could employ a driver if he was banned.
He replied: “Yes, but I talk business in the car to clients and I would feel uneasy with someone in the car with me."

No wonder he lacked concentration if he was talking to clients either in the car or on the phone
