Having seen Hartlepools last two games , 0-4 Scunthorpe. 3-5 Gateshead. just wondering if anybody has seen any other results that have caught your eye?

also seen Colchester got beat 3-0 at home to Orient &Cambridge; needed a last minute goal to get a 1-1 away at Bromley.

The ScoresPro site is the best one I've found for any pre-season friendlies.

Grimsby Town opened up a can of whoop ass on Notts County, winning 3-0 to make it three straight wins against league opposition. I've got £10 on them to win the National League @11/2 and it seems a decent investment.

Look at the defending from Notts County




I think they'll be around mid table, their front players will be too much to worry about relegation.

Hartlepool however, I look at their signings and can only see another season of struggle for them. I would have thought an experienced defender would be a priority in the summer but doesn't look like they have. The rate they are shipping goals against the likes of Scunthorpe and more worrying (for them) Gateshead suggests they'll leak goals again this season.
Cant see barn door billy getting them many goals either.

I believe Notts County were playing Alan Smith at centre back so I probably wouldn't read into that result too much...

What is Smith doing for that third goal. i think we can read into it, looks like smith is staying there

Words from the notts county manager on smith : Moniz is likely to give certain players 60 minutes at Grimsby which is likely to see Alan Smith continue at centre-back.

Smith has played in midfield and centre-forward in his career, but has done well in the heart of the defence.

"Nobody expected it, but he has done quite well," he said.

"Alan is multi-functional. He is one of my leaders."
