Another statement about nothing.

I'm pretty sure this was just cut and pasted from the old "what will the next club statement be" thread

The next one will be the day before our first home league game of the season, and tell us that talks are now at an 'advanced stage'.

They are so predictable it's actually quite funny.

This is the first of about 3 and perhaps 4 statements we'll see over the next month. The next one will be "Talks at a delicate stage". Following that there will be "Talks at a difficult stage", and finally "Billionaire pull out of talks".

This is a step further towards confirming all my suspicions.

I have to say, it's one of the most impressive pieces of waffle I've ever read. 4 (four!) paragraphs, all saying absolutely nothing whatsoever. I'm almost impressed.

My personal favourite bit, without question, has to be this:
"We will be in contact with the agent again this week to finalise details of the next steps to be taken."

I wonder what the next steps are? Another conference call? A smoke signal conversation? A seance? One thing's for sure, once those 'details' are in place, and not only ready but 'finalised', we're going to see some serious action on the 'next steps' front.

I'm wid Moorlad on this, Then ther'll be a statement to see what last statement was about, What a load of old fanny....

I just keep thinking: what if this was real? What if the billionaire was real and this is the actual way that 'negotiations are progressing'?!

Can you imagine if this was genuine and we were treating a prospective investor with such a relaxed attitude, with all the time in the world on our hands to let them twiddle us about?!

I'm just pleased I don't buy a word of it.

Another useless statement that tells us ...errr....exactly nothing.....it really is laughable.

But hey, they think we are all mushrooms who don't need to know anything anyway, furthermore as there is nothing to tell us (we all know it's a porkie pie Nixon)

Next it will be we nearly had a teleconference this week, we will be in touch next week to finalise the next steps that are needed to phone each other......USELESS.

All this is just to buy time to try and drum up interest in the club and doneerrrr, we had to pull out of the billionaire deal because of xyz but we have also been in dialogue with a second unnamed investor who wants to move forward quickly. He is based overseas so guess what, he wants Nixon to stay on the operational board to run the day to day operations and for AJ to become a life president.

Having just read that statement all I could do was laugh. It really is laughable now. It showed up on my Facebook and I thought here we go the billionaire has pulled out. But no, discussions have moved on, we are now speaking to the agent who is telling us he will let us know at the end of the week that we can speak to the agent again! What have they been told about us so far? We are in Cumbria? We play football? We have a ground?
I must say this billionaire really means business doesn't he. He is so thorough. If he takes over how long will it take to do his research on players, managers, coaches, shithouse cleaners. Ffs like

So moving on to the next stage is the same as it was at the last stage before this stage got to be the previous stage......or somet like that. Does that sum it up????

Am I the only one on here that actually believes Mr Jenkins and trusts him. I do believe there is interest from a billionaire and I do believe him when he says Lapping didn't have the cash.

You might all be right, but by heck I hope it's me that's right!!

Don't worry 'Windermere' you're not completely alone. I also believe that there is some form of an investor, whether its a Billionaire or not and how serious he is remains to be seen. But there is absolutely no reason for AJ to lie, apart from the collapse of the lapping deal.

Whoever this person is - they couldn't be much less bothered it seems to me. Its been over 2 months now and he/she still hasnt even spoken to anyone at CUFC. They are too busy to make a phone call when a multi-million pound investment is at stake? Even billionaires take note of how they spend a few million quid. All this statement says is that they have decided they are interested in talks to see if they are interested in talks! Hardly anything concrete.

Its worrying that they have cancelled the Lapping deal in favour of what appears to be the mildest of interest from elsewhere. To get to within a few weeks of Lappings takeover, to cancel it in favour of this supposed new investment, you would expect it to be at a more advanced stage than it is.

Windermerelad, well done for having the courage to print your feelings. I'm with you on this and although I would love all the doubters to be proved wrong, somehow I am not optimistic.
However this board would be a lot more interesting if those who disagree with the more vitriolic contributors, had the courage to come on here and say so.

It doesn't take any courage to disagree with anybody on here, the only time it will take a little bit of courage is when you have to come back later and say "I'm sorry, you were right, and I was wrong". I'm prepared to do that if by some miracle a billionaire comes striding into Brunton Park scopping £20 notes in his wake.

At least if it's Trump (and given he's running for President and the GOP debate is 2 weeks it ain't) it would put Comical in an invidious position....could he continue to work for someone who clearly has little/no respect for ex-service personnel.......? Seriously, you sound about 7 with your juvenile name calling. The guy's job is to release information on the club. Some of it he will be able to do without approval, some will need to be agreed with KC and some by AJ and JN. Of course he will release what he is told to, on account of that being his job. He isn't breaking any laws and him getting the sack just to satisfy your pathetic personal agenda isn't going to help anyone.

He's far from perfect as a media officer but in terms of problems at the club he doesn't even register in comparison with Jenkins and Nixon.

I am stil naively hoping the Billionaire does actually exist... but in percentage terms I'm about 5% he does exist and 95% that he doesn't. The only reason I hold out any hope that this is actually happening is that I've met AJ on a few occassions and he has always struck me as an honest bloke who has the best interests of the club at heart, even though he is a bit clueless at running it. I just can't see him lying about something like this or going along with a plan to deceive the fans.

However, my brain is telling me that everything is pointing to it being BS. The communications couldn't be more vague... it doesn't sound like they have actually spoken to this bloke, except through a 3rd party and the whole thing stinks. The situation has been handled really badly and I think AL has been treated terribly during this process.

It will be interesting to see how it turns out. If it turns out to be a load of cobblers and talks break down a couple of months after the season starts, as many have predicted, then I will have lost all respect for AJ for being part of the sham. I am still hoping the 5% wins and there is actually a billionaire mental enough to invest in our team though... however unlikely that is to happen.

It will probably turn out to be a new sponsorship deal by a company that is owned by a billionaire or some spurious connection to save face by the BOD.

I don't really think they realised how much some of this would get picked up and run with. The trouble all really started with the need to get rid of Lapping and the very ill judged statement about Pattison on the official website. That seriously made it obvious that there was some kind of rift between those 2 and Lapping, and there were a number of comments about it on messageboards at the time appearing to suggest there was unrest. I believe they made their big mistake as a result of panic because of them being found out planning to scupper the Lapping bid.

Their only option seemed to be to say there was another offer. They were, it seemed to me, determined not to let Lapping take over and needed a delaying tactic. Knowing Lapping posted on here they worried about what we'd find out, so had to come out with something plausible. They never realised how little trust there was in anything they were saying when they said there was another deal, and made it worse with the billionaire crack. Now they can't back down, if they do we'll know they're liars, if they don't they've got to get the billionaire story to die, hence my view that they're drip feeding statements until they can get a decent time to say he's pulled out. In the meantime they've managed to contact somebody who thinks he can arrange investment in the club, but it appears (to me at least) to be total rubbish.

You are right Moorlad... 5% is too high. I'm just hoping for the best... even though everything screams that this is a load of made up tosh.
