As a new subscriber I would like to point out that the majority of subscribers have in my opinion got it all wrong.Nixon and Jenkins should be congratulated for doing what they have for our club. The first thing that must be understood is that this is a business not a hobby.I have not seen the profit and loss account but being a businessman for fifty years I should think that the gate receipts at Brunton Park go nowhere near meeting the expenditure. How can you possibly hope for success on the back of gates of 4500.
Regarding the proposed takeover I see no reason at all why negotiations are not taking place.I would fully expect confidentiality clauses to be signed and adhered to. Mr Nixon has stated only three people know the identity of the billionaire and there is nothing wrong with that.
I would suggest that supporters get behind the team and manager in numbers and I am sure Jenkins and Nixon will get it right for the future.
I have been away for a long weekend, so I haven't posted on here since Thursday. I saw this and was a little disconcerted.
I think we all realise, contrary to what the original post says, that running a football club is a business not a hobby. We are all customers of that business, most of us are regular repeat customers and as such have a stake in the business.
I think as a business person you might understand that if the number of customers you're getting didn't generate enough income to cover your expenses then you would be in trouble and you'd need to find a way to increase income, by increasing the number of customers. Why then, do you think, that the current people running the club have made the product less desirable every year they've been in charge? When they started this time, the numbers of people watching our home games was sufficient to sustain the club in League 1. This has been eroded over their 6 or 7 years, gradually, because of their incompetence. For example we have found ourselves supporting a team at the very foot of the bottom division, after those fools running the place started with a team which was capable of challenging for promotion to the Championship. At the same time the stadium is being allowed to fall further into ruin, the match day experience is deteriorating, the punters are becoming increasingly isolated from the club. You really think we should be congratulating them because of this?
I accept what you are saying about confidentiality, but that could only apply if there was some sort of investment, since there clearly is not there is little need for confidentiality.
I am confident that supporters will certainly get behind the manager and the team come the weekend. I am also confident that those same supporters know that Nixon and Jenkins don't care about them, or the club, and have no confidence that those two will get anything right. In fact most supporters, certainly those on here, and those who've already voted with their feet can't wait to see the back of them.
