Good to see in the Cumberland News that Curle likes Grainger because Grainger is not afraid to make a mistake. Certainly had some practice

Surely Curle should be dismissed after picking Grainger over Troy. Unbelievable.

Draw fair result. Missed the goal (went for a piss & a pint). Tried to play like Barcelona 1st half, which is great for 5 or 6 passes til they rob the ball of us. 40 mins til 1st chance (Kennedy from 25 yards, straight at keeper).

Daft 2hat with red hair our best player. Kennedy, Joyce & Ibehre done well.

Will give Curle 10 games...

Custodians got an easy ride (zero singing or abuse aimed at them), so I guess that's us stuck with them! What we deserve I suppose.

Just got back home. Hery with the red hair was our best player - lots of energy and pace in midfield, also helping with defensive duties. Ibehre will be a fan's favourite - big and strong, lays the ball off for runners -great addition to the team. I feel sorry for Wyke as he is less likely to get game time now. I thought Luke Joyce was a bit slack at times but it is probably cobwebs and he'll improve with games. He looks assured in midfield. Miller was unlucky with his chance which skimmed off his head. Their goal came from a very dodgy free kick. Joyce had made a successful tackle but the Mansfield player caught his foot on Joyce's foot after Joyce had got the ball. The free kick though was extremely well taken - not a huge amount of pace but perfect bend and positioning.

All in all, as I expected a much better performance than we endured for most of last season. The new signings look a step up in quality and will get better. I'm thinking we might make the play-offs this season and I'm not normally one for optimism but I think Curle is getting it right.

New lads Hery - exceptional - looks a great find. My MOM
Jabo - not far behind. Always looked dangerous.

Joyce: Solid and un-spectacular - probably what we signed him for!

Miller: Not bad, although struggled a bit to cope with their number ten first half.

Raynes - Looked a bit iffy to be honest. I'll give him time but not a great debut.Crass and stupid was committing a foul in almost the exact same place the free kick was scored from!

Balanta and Osie got a bit of time second half. Osie didn't do much and Balanta put in one very decent cross that we nearly scored from.

Thought Jabo was our best player by a mile today!

Atkinson and Raynes were uncomfortable to watch, especially in the first half.

Hery obviously has ability but I actually thought Kennedy was better than him today.

Hi. It is very clear to me that Curle likes to change the line-up from match to match as a squad. That for me is a concern because I am of the opinion that it can lead to some players becoming demotivated at not playing when they think they should. We shall see, I suppose

Just got home. Fairly happy with the result, although i thought the ref & linesmen spoiled the game! Ref made bad desicions for both side's. 2nd half the linesman on our (fans) left was awful. My mom would have been Gillespie, thought he controlled his area well, showing a bit more maturity. And yes i was 1 of the happy clappers that stayed at the end & sang Keith curles blue & white army! Shoulders broad, bring on the abuse!

Not quite Total Football but certainly an improvement on last season. I think it's clear that it's going to take time for this team to gel (if they ever get the opportunity with the tinkerman). The spacing of the back line Dutch style with three CB's spread across the whole of the pitch is certainly risky especially at this level with lower quality players and it will be interesting to see how it develops, you need mobile, agile CB's which is probably why Troy didn't play and he doesn't suit this formation. I would like someone better on the ball in the middle of the three though than Raynes. It does tend to lead to odd hoofball when there's nothing on in midfield.

For me Hery was our best player, nice touches, got stuck in and some decent forward passes although I'd like him played a bit further forward where he can hurt teams in their half. I can see why he went with Asamoah with Jabo as he is the more mobile of the strikers we have. Joyce is an improvement on the holding midfield player role we've had for the last six years, he can tackle, pass it forwards and cover. Kennedy was busy but not his best game.

Two evenly matched teams for me and credit to Benning for the free-kick as it was a decent strike and it was the pace of the strike that beat Gillespie more than anything as it wasn't right in the corner.

I guess we'll have to wait and see if things improve or if the style reverts to last season after suffering a few defeats. Get a few wins and a good start and things could be looking up. Time will tell.

Edited to add I thought the ref was a homer.

I had no complaints either.I was very quiet throughout hence wukkie does not have earache this morning. Even game which could have gone either way. Hery played very well today so MOM for me. Jabo made a difference holding the ball up nicely for others. took his goal well. One thing i did notice was when we attacked...the ball cleared away, nobody was at the edge of the box to follow up with a shot...this happened on a few occasions..an area where we miss dempsey and potts? But encouraging performance to start with.

Both Hery and Kennedy both got into the box from every cross. Maybe would of been better if one went into the box and the other one was just outside to pick up them second balls

I was late getting in about 2.55 yesterday. As I Was walking to the turnstiles a group of dodgy looking Mansfield fans werewalkingby. One laughed at the two coaches outside that end saying "look at that. Two coaches for a game like this. Bet they bring a hundred. We would take miles more. What a joke club. "
He clearly didn't see the other 4 around the corner. He must have felt a bit of a tool when he walked in and saw over 700.
I don't know how many Mansfield have brought up in the past but I don't remember it ever being very many.

I twined on about this lack of positioning last season , balls can be poorly cleared but we never have anybody lurking on the 18 yard box to pounce......work on it KC

At this level there's A LOT of poor clearances too.
