9pm start - good
No Claridge (worst pundit ever) - good
Promised to have a programme on international break when BBC couldn't be arsed - good

Whack it on record and start it 15 minutes later. I thought it was alright to be fair.

What's the idea behind showing some games from one division then some games from another division, then jumping back again??
I thought the whole show was shanful.

I haven't watched it yet but that seems complete idiocy to me. WTF? Are they just trying to be different to the BBC format which made sense. Hopefully they will be bombarded with complaints about it.

When I first read in their announcement that there would be fans in the studio I thought it was a bad idea from the off.

Probably to do with when they receive the footage, bring back the BBC much better.

Why don't people who produce these programmes supposedly highlighting yesterdays football action stick to what the fans are tuning in to see!

Does anybody want studio audiences! presenters clearly so far out of their depth that they should be embarrassed! and the action presented in a way that is simply not coherent!

Programme is s*ite, in my opinion - and I'm sure a lot of other people. Better than not being able to see the goals from Division 2 at all, but that's it.

Having had time to reflect and watching it again - it's banal shite. I'll be giving this a big swerve and using the fast forward button, see our goals if we get any, then switching off. Very, very disappointing.

I didn't see the point in having an audience standing around, and the league tables were a bit cheap ikea.

Was utter crap as expected from Channel 5.

No need for a studio audience awkwardly standing around - its not Top Gear. The format was all over the place. The league tables looked to have been brought out of storage from the 1970s. The main pundit standing next to the TV screen was a terrible idea. Martin Allen was dreadful. "Talk us through this Martin". Silence followed by "Err... well...what do you want me to say?" Brilliant insight. Interviewing him before the L2 highlights so he was talking about a match we hadnt even seen yet? It was cringe worthy.

All they need to do is have each divisions highlights, started off with a slightly longer feature match, then a little bit of analysis at the end before moving onto the next division. Kelly Cates as the host with two pundits who know the lower leagues well. And that's it. How they manage to balls it up is beyond me.

Watched it this morning and it put me in a bad mood, still in a bit of a pap at the minute to be honest.

Awful.

What was the end all about? Some daft music with a weird highlights reel of all the 'best bits' from the show

The thread title may be "Chanel 5 football league show" but it stank more of manure than French perfume.

I was glad to see the back of the Blue Petery Manish Washbasin and co but if anything this was worse.

Far too much crap gimmickry, excruciatingly awkward attempts at banter with guests and the pointless studio audience and a confusing format.

Also, when will TV producers get over the obsession with reading out tweets and emails from viewers. Just because it's possible for Alan from Nuneaton to send a message in saying "Great game today, Cov are going up" doesn't mean it's worth reading out or a good use of airtime.

Do what I do: Sky + it, fast forward it to the Carlisle goals then delete the f_cker!!

As it happens tho I did watch last nights and thought it was crap. Trying too hard to include to many different feature, mentioning sponsors, running competitions etc Why the f_ck was Michael Vaughan on, on a video message talking sh!te? Who is that "Virgo" ponce?

I tell you what, take me back to taping Endsleigh League Extra on a Monday night and watching it on a Tuesday morning before school. Not been a decent highlight programme since!!
There's only one United!

Watched it open minded but found it to be dreadful.

That format they use is like watching Top Of The Pops from the seventies, all they needed would have been that bloke presenting with his arms round four young girls while he did the 'League Rundown' and you would have thought it was a football version of Top Of The Pops.

There was a sweaty bloke swaying all over the place who looked like he had too many shandies whilst his missus had a perma grin and was staring at the camera making me uncomfortable.

Kelly was the most professional thing about the shambles and like other people have stated, what is with that league hopping lark, the links to them were like they were thought up by a ten year old - from say Brighton playing to 'lets go to another southern club' Gillingham.

And then the bridges in the show 'now lets go and talk to a very nervous and uncomfortable looking Adam Virgo everyone'.

Just proves what a good job the BBC did with the show just by keeping it simple and knowing what it wanted to do with the show, Channel 5 thought it would borrow from loads of things like TFI Friday even and have ended up with a pigs ear - shows them right for trying too hard to be down with the kids.

I didn't think it was that bad at all, similar stuff to Beeb with current manager and an ex pro featuring. Not sure what the point of having a crowd there is with so little interaction. Reckon we should lobby them to get Lummy on!

Presumably they spread the Championship games across the whole show to retain the audience as theoretically they have more fans. The BBC didn't do that as there'd have been uproar from the likes of Leeds if they were shown at 1.30 in the morning so they put division two at the end as Wimbledon et al were just glad to be on at all.

The big plus for me is the timing, why should we wait unti 1am to see Jabo's quality strike.

I'd put it on for a couple of minutes and was disturbed by the collection of oddbods loitering in the background. Where the hell did they get them lot? Rounding up of the nations village idiots!? Jeremy Kyle's waiting list!?

Anyhow, I'd seen enough, I'll not be bothering in future!

I liked Claridge. I thought the highlights were better than the old League Sho, maybe my iimagination but we seemed to get more football. Thought Martin Allen was OK, being asked to commentate on the opposition scoring against your team is tough. Thought the studio bits were shocking and the blonde lassie was more banal than a Hale & Pace special

Didn't you say the same about Steve Claridge? :cheer:

Having now watched it I basically bookmarked the start of the L1 goals, watched the rest of the Champ and then went back. Just stick to a plain format showing each division at a time, show the league table on a screen not on them crappy boards with the camera panning down.

Keep it simple stupid is what they should be saying to the producers of the show. Hopefully they'll take notice of the feedback.

If it was a pilot of a regular show it wouldn't be on next week.

Fortunately for them football fans are desperate to watch their goals as quick as possible on TV.

Well I thought it was excellent apart from the format..... and the pundits.... and the awkward audience.... including the serial killer in the red top and surf shorts, and the cardboard cut out league tables... they were poor, and Martin Allen not having a clue what was gan on. But apart from these minor imperfections great show

got the impression they where trying to combine Soccer Saturday, MOTD and BT Sport coverage which resulted one pile of steaming cack, needs a decent pundit(s), get shot of the league tables and less rendom format though cannot fault the 9pm start

The kind of programme Sky+ was invented for.

I'm sure no football programme in history has made so much of the league tables (from a bumper issue of Shoot from the 90's) after just 1 game.

As mentioned earlier, the days of a video recording of Gabriel Clarke and Endsleigh League Extra before school on a Tuesday seem almost Utopian.

They probably switch leagues all the time to stop people like me from watching something else for 40 minutes, and then tuning in 20 minutes before the end to watch the League Two highlights.

FL72 Goals on Sky 7PM on Sunday if you can get it. None of the clutter, just goals and Champ Manager Interviews and decent tables. The only gripe I have is they have also split the Champ goals to the first part and last part of the programme. :S
